I'm not a cunning linguist, but I love word games and anagrams was one I had really high hopes for. unfortunately, it came out in a pretty broken state, as is common these days, and it's as much a matching game as it is a word game. in the main mode you'll spend minutes matching, followed by seconds of finding a word, and the matching part could be better, even though the game-breaking issues are fixed now. there are 4 game modes, 3 of which have to be unlocked. classic is the default one with 950 two-part levels, first some matching, then an anagram. you get a key after every 5 anagrams, which is, well, the key to unlocking the rest of the game modes and all 36 word categories here, as only the first is open at the beginning. they can be accessed in any order with a single key, each comes with 25 levels, except two towards the end with 50, and levels within have to be played one after the other. category selection is done really well, navigation arrows, tooltips with category names and instant access with a single click. each level starts with a board of colored tiles containing halves of letters. the goal is to switch adjacent tiles to create full letters of the same color, filling each color meter on the left. matched letters disappear, new tiles fall from the top, possibly creating bonus matches. diagonal movement is allowed, no timer or move limit, and there are special tiles that can be moved even if a match isn't created, locked tiles that can't be moved until matched, tiles with a clock that lock adjacent squares when the counter reaches zero, and ones that can be swapped with anything on the board to create a match. if you get stuck, hints are available to show an available move, shuffle, reset countdowns and unlock tiles. once all the meters are filled, the anagram part begins, using the letters you just matched up, so slide them left and right to find the word in the current category. up to 3 hints available, and if you quit here, next time you'll start with the anagram, no need to do the letter-matching again, but quitting during matching won't save progress. the other game modes cost 3 keys each. blitz is timed and offers anagrams to solve in 60 seconds (each one resets the clock to 60, a hint takes away 10 seconds) and puzzles where you start with 10 seconds and every match adds 3 more, but the timer is capped at 10 seconds, so it's really stressful, plus the board keeps getting bigger and more difficult too. luckily, anagrams don't only use categories unlocked in classic and there are 500 more words here, but no way to continue the run later and the anagram part can't even be paused. zen is practically endless, offers anagrams with all the classic mode words and/or the 500 bonus ones, so it's actually worth playing if you want more words to find, or only the ones that aren't in classic. I don't see the point of endless matching with 3 or more colors though, might as well make progress in classic while you're doing it. unlimited hints are available for both. free mode lets you play puzzles or anagrams separately on a difficulty setting of your choice. both use the 500-word bonus list, not that it ultimately makes much of a difference for the matching part. 3 hints are available for anagrams. the presentation is top notch with a slick minimalist design, though there's too much clicking involved to keep things moving. the background music is nice and relaxing and the game has separate volume settings, windowed mode with a resizable window, dark mode, vsync, msaa settings, toggles for background animation, shaders and particle effects, 3 profiles for separate progress tracking, plus an optional tutorial and some help screens. sadly, settings aren't available while playing or at game mode selection, only in the main menu. constant crashes got fixed, so the biggest problem now is not being able to do anything while a matching animation is happening. there's probably no changing that now, but animation speed settings would alleviate the issue somewhat. another thing is the lack of a 'no more moves' prompt. not granting a free shuffle is fine, but the game only brings up a retry/quit screen if you run out of both moves and hints. simply highlighting the hints section and playing a non-annoying sound would be enough to let the player know when to stop looking for something that isn't there. it's good stuff otherwise with plenty of content, and levels get pretty hard with many locked tiles and such, but the whole matching part can be really tedious. waiting for animations and the other half of certain letters to appear, then maneouvering them where they need to be gets old fast. only recommended if you're fine with the matching aspect and its flaws, at least until other game modes are unlocked. it can be done pretty fast, then you can dive into anagrams without matching if you want, but there are other games offering just that for a lower price.
Overview: This has become one of my new favorite games! I have been playing it almost every night to wind down before bed. The music is very relaxing and with dark mode it's easy on the eyes for nighttime. If you like the aesthetic of Mini Metro and Hexcells I think you will enjoy this game. Game Modes: My favorite game modes are Classic and Blitz. I also really love Zen when I just want to play a casual game. I really appreciate that I have the ability to select the type of game I would like to play based on my mood. You aren't stuck to just one game mode like some other puzzle games. It helps to make the game more dynamic and also addictive! You can play super relaxing game modes or if you are more into fast paced challenging games you have that option as well. Classic Mode: This mode is fun to level up as the puzzles get increasingly harder. I like to play this mode when I want a challenge. As the puzzles get increasingly harder there are new challenges added to each puzzle like countdown clocks. These clocks give you 3 chances to make a match with each of the letters that have a clock before they lock the squares around them. It makes the puzzle more complex as you are trying to simultaneously keep the letters from locking while also trying to match enough of each color to fill the meters. Zen mode: This has calming music with a nature soundtrack. It allows you to play an endless game with plenty of shuffles to keep going. You also can select the colors you like best and add as many as you like to create an easier or more difficult puzzle. I like to play this one at night as the music helps me wind down for bed. It feels almost meditative listening to the soothing soundtrack while matching letters. Blitz: Is exciting when you want a more challenging fast paced game. You have to match letters as quickly as possible to keep adding time to the clock. If you aren't into slow paced relaxing games this mode is for you. Free Mode: Allows you to select any difficulty you want so if you prefer to only play the harder puzzles you can without having to go through the easier ones first like you would in Classic Mode. You also can choose to play only the anagram puzzles or the matching puzzles if you favor one over the other. Design: The graphics are minimalist and modern. Very pleasing to the eye with the color combinations on both light and dark mode. You also can choose to make the background stationary if it is distracting while matching. Or if you want a more dynamic feel you can set the background to be animated. This game has a really smooth design which reminds me of other games I love like Mini Metro and Hexcells. Music: The soundtracks are quite relaxing and make the game very enjoyable. I really appreciate the responsive sound effects as well. Very well thought out and produced. Conclusion: If you like games like Text Twist, Boggle, Bejeweled I think you will enjoy this game. I highly recommend it!
This game is broken! It is possible to get into a position where you have no more moves and no more power-ups. The game keeps generating the wrong side of the piece so you cannot make a match. Below is an example of this situation where I needed one more yellow match, but it kept generating the wrong side. There is one along the far right edge, not accessible. Eventually I had to exit the game as there was nothing that I could do. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2893365026
Я - задрот))) --------------------------- This challenging game combines the mechanics of match-3 games with logical anagram puzzles. The game is entirely in English, and it can be difficult to solve the words at the end of each round. Some of the game's advantages include: +The difficulty of the game (which is a positive aspect in this case) +The minimalist visual style +The ненавязчивое music сопровождение +The opportunity to expand your vocabulary +Various game variations, including the challenging Blitz mode and the chill Zen mode The disadvantages I would include all the same, what I wrote above. It's already from which side to look. It won't be possible to pass the game quickly. Achievements quickly get it too. The game is aimed at playing it slowly, and repeatedly. In general, I was satisfied, although after the first hour I realized that it would not be easy)) but at the same time, I did not request a refund, but decided to pass it sooner or later. If you hunt for achievements - do not buy If you don't like games without Russian, this game is not for you If you're still counting on a quick playthrough after my review, well, God bless you))) Otherwise, the game is good in its genre and will make you think. And think a lot. But I liked it. I'm a Nerd)))
The game do not stress you at all. Just play as long as you want.
This game is better than Xanax. The design, sound effects, and music all work together to make an incredibly therapeutic, anxiety-soothing experience. The puzzles invite exploration over explanation, making the gameplay both simple and challenging. Definitely check this one out.
I expected it to be what's on the tin: anagrams. But it's really 2 separate gameplay loops: A grid-based matching game, which lets you build the letters that you then use to solve the anagrams. If you only want word games, this won't scratch that itch, but if you want a unique, bite-sized puzzle game, this fits the bill perfectly.
Combination of Match 3 (i.e. Candy Crush/Bejeweled) and Anagrams. Found the game to be pretty slow and overly 'gamey' with scores and multipliers. If you like Match 3, which I don't, you might enjoy this game. I also consider the game to be too easy, with too many hints and what not. Not my idea of a challenging or even fun puzzle game.
A very relaxing puzzle game. It's nice to play when listening to podcasts.
