A disappointing walking simulator. I was hoping there would me more to it that there is. First of all the store page claims that it takes 40-60 to complete but it only took me 25 minutes. And while it has some bits and pieces of a sad story what it boils down to in the end is that you walk around the map avoiding guards. Also for some reason at some point in the beginning the way you are looking keep randomly switching around for no apparently reason.
All That Remains, developed and published by Elysian Games, is a short, introspective experience that leans heavily into atmosphere and emotional reflection rather than traditional gameplay structure. Set within a bleak, post-apocalyptic version of Earth that has been largely abandoned, the game presents a quiet and somber journey centered on a lone individual confronting the weight of his past and the inevitability of his situation. It is less concerned with delivering a conventional story and more focused on evoking a particular mood, inviting players to absorb its tone and interpret its meaning at their own pace. The gameplay is deliberately minimal, built around exploration and environmental storytelling. Players move through desolate landscapes and decaying spaces, uncovering fragments of narrative through scattered details rather than direct exposition. There are occasional interactive elements and light moments of tension, but these are secondary to the experience as a whole. The design emphasizes observation and reflection, encouraging players to slow down and take in the surroundings rather than rush toward objectives. This approach creates a steady, almost meditative rhythm, though it may feel uneventful for those who prefer more active or mechanically driven gameplay. One of the game’s strongest aspects is how it uses its setting to reinforce its themes. The abandoned world is not just a backdrop but a reflection of the protagonist’s internal state, with its emptiness and decay mirroring feelings of isolation, regret, and finality. The environment tells its own story through subtle visual cues, allowing players to piece together what has happened without relying on explicit narration. This connection between world design and narrative gives the experience a cohesive emotional tone, even if the details remain intentionally vague. Visually, the game adopts a subdued style that prioritizes atmosphere over technical complexity. The environments are not highly detailed, but they are arranged in a way that emphasizes scale, emptiness, and mood. Lighting plays a key role in guiding the player’s attention and shaping the emotional impact of each scene. The soundtrack complements this approach with a restrained and melancholic tone, adding to the sense of quiet reflection that defines the journey. Together, these elements create an experience that feels cohesive, even within its limited scope. However, the game’s brevity is one of its most noticeable limitations. With a relatively short runtime, it offers only a brief glimpse into its world and themes, leaving little room for deeper development or progression. There are no significant gameplay systems to expand upon, no branching paths to explore, and minimal incentive to revisit the experience once it has been completed. While this concise structure helps maintain focus, it can also leave the impression that the game ends before fully exploring its potential. The narrative approach, while thematically consistent, may also be divisive. By relying heavily on ambiguity and player interpretation, the game avoids providing clear answers or a traditional sense of closure. For some players, this open-ended style can be engaging, encouraging them to reflect on the meaning behind what they have seen. For others, it may feel incomplete or lacking in direction, making it difficult to form a strong emotional connection to the story. Despite these limitations, All That Remains succeeds in delivering a focused and atmospheric experience that stands out through its tone rather than its mechanics. It does not attempt to compete with more expansive narrative games or complex simulations, instead offering a small, self-contained journey that prioritizes mood and introspection. Its strengths lie in its ability to create a consistent emotional environment, even if it does not provide the depth or variety needed for long-term engagement. In the end, All That Remains is best appreciated as a brief, reflective piece that explores themes of isolation and consequence through a minimalist lens. It offers a quiet and somber experience that can resonate with players who are willing to engage with its subtle storytelling and restrained design. While it may not leave a lasting impact for everyone, it provides a thoughtful and cohesive journey within its limited scope. Rating: 6/10
I am sure there is an ecological message here , and well worth making , but as a game ....no . Voice acting given the nature of the dialogue is a little flat , and why does the player keep getting shot ! It sadly did not hold my interest long enough to find out . Wandering round in a fog/smog was not that entertaining . Given the nature of the write up was expecting another " everybodys gone to the rapture " type of thing but sadly this was not it . For the price you might give it a try as a lot of work has gone into it but .... not for me .

Игра оправдывает свое название "All That Remains" или "Все, что осталось". Тут ничего не осталось! Мы ходим в тумане как в фильме "Мгла", прячемся от людей с автоматами, ловим флэшбеки (походу от этого тумана).

Loved it. Interesting idea. Why so little???)))
Ever tried to throw a brick into a washing machine? That's what this game feels like. Gameplay and story mix like peanutbutter and fried chicken. Graphics are below average. Voice acting is subpar. The story has some intrigue and mystery to it, but the checkpoint system ultimately removes any tension. At this point I would say, they just should not have bothered with gameplay at all and just made the whole thing a walking sim with better visuals.
