Found this gem after the dev responded to my Wishlist Wednesday post on Twitter last week. I loved the Steam trailer and immediately got a major nostalgia kick afterwards. MFG(dev) and I chatted for a bit over dm's and was excited to hear that I wanted to feature it on my weekly Indie Appreciation stream on Twitch! Day of they came into chat and he and the community shot the ♥♥♥♥ while i got immersed into the game, cackling like a madmen as the references came throughout the game. I played thru the story in about 3.5 hours on the first difficulty level, after which I unlocked the last of 4 difficulty levels. The game has loads of replay-ability for the cost and I see myself pushing to 100% this in the future. I won't spoil any of the references here but trust me, its a blast to play and challenging at times. but gives you that amazing feeling when you figure out the level plays out. The different characters are also a riot, each with their own special perks included. In terms of bugs there were a couple small ones that were easy to get around once you realised what they were, MFG is actively addressing them as they come along and is an awesome person to chat with. Overall, nothing game breaking was seen during game play and I had an absolute ball with it as did my community. 11/10 can't wait to give it another run!
I admire the amount of detail that went into this game. You can definitely tell there was plenty of love put into it. There was always something new to keep you on your toes and engaged throughout. I recommend giving this a shot... if you dare.
Phenomenal 2D shooter / platformer! I've beat the game a few times and still find new FUN easter eggs each playthrough. The endless mode is also super fun!
I had the Opportunity to place this today ! I will Fully and openly admit after seeing 3 to 4 minutes of gameplay after downloading, I wasnt sure How Long this would hold my attention. I then Streamed it today on Twitch, IT WAS GREAT ! The Humour fits my style, the references to retro / Classic Games and movies added to that the game play made this game an instant hit with some real good Belly laughs !! the 8 bit style hit some awesome Nostalgia points and I really liked finding the Hidden rooms and secret passages ! well done to the Devs, and look forward to playing more !
I was pleasantly surprised by the game. Honestly, I thought it was going to be another side scroller that has typical 8-bit graphics and just no thought put into it. I was pleasantly surprised. The game is a typical side scroller, to a point. The amount of effort and detail the dev put into the game makes taking your time, exploring and re-playing it, worth your time. There is so much to unpack in this game. The old time references hidden throughout the game are a nice touch. The different character abilities, multiple characters, the off beat humor all add together to make a very excellent game. There's a lot of hidden items and corridors you can venture down, all with their own little surprise. I'm very glad I got a chance to play this game. I also have to say that it even had moments that made me jump, which is surprising for a game like this. It really is a great game and well worth your time and money to get.
What can I say? This is a pure and simple nostalgia trip! I freely admit I played it on ♥♥♥♥♥ mode and even then the challenge was just enough to make it fun but testing (for me at least). The references to the good ol days of film and gaming are perfect nuggets to distract you long enough to get eaten, blown up, sliced and diced and so much more. Thing is I went back again and again because it is addictive. I would fully recommend this if you have a few brain squeezing hours to spare!
A good indie game with retro flavors. The perfect experience to have when I want to have just a casual moment of fun. Sounds and visuals are a celebration of the history of video games and nerd culture. Controls are made simple and camera is pretty near of the character, which gives you more a sense of claustrophobia. Anyway, the game is full of secrets so that you may want to play its levels over and over. I think it's a great game!
Alien Scumbags is an absolute treat! If you enjoy side scrolling with great humor, this is the one for you! So many throwbacks to classic games, and some a bit newer. Aptly named characters, and a nice amount of difficulty, and an absolutely banging soundtrack! I love pixel art, and appreciate the work that has gone into this game since it first came out. I don't do enough hiding, so I tend to die a bunch, but that's half the fun! Am I right? For this price point, you absolutely can't go wrong! Give it a try! Here is a link to some playthrough to help nudge you along! SERIOUSLY, get this game! https://youtu.be/4PY4X1ooR_Q
