A brave cat arrived on a planet and faced an unusual gravity that allowed for climbing vertical walls and jumping over abysses on ceilings. But that’s not that easy in fact.

👑 ᴋᴜʀᴀᴛᴏʀᴘʀᴏғɪʟᴇ 1 (ʀᴇᴢᴇɴsɪᴏɴᴇɴ: 1 ʙɪs 2000) 👑 ᴋᴜʀᴀᴛᴏʀᴘʀᴏғɪʟᴇ 2 (ʀᴇᴢᴇɴsɪᴏɴᴇɴ: 2001 ʙɪs 4000) 👑 ᴋᴜʀᴀᴛᴏʀᴘʀᴏғɪʟᴇ 3 (ʀᴇᴢᴇɴsɪᴏɴᴇɴ: 4001 ʙɪs 6000)
I'm infatuated with girls. When I go outside, I'm shocked by how many cute girls I see. They're all cute and alluring in different ways. The shy-looking girl with the plaid newsboy hat and glasses. The alt girl with the pink striped shirt and black skirt. The girl wearing a baggy earth-tone t-shirt, absorbed in a book. When I'm around them, I feel charmed. They're cute just by being. There are so many cute girls. I want to get to know them. I want to make them smile. I want to be with one. They are everywhere, but they are so far away. I love girls, but I'm hopeless.
Alien Cat 8 is one of thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam. This one has you controlling a cat that jumps over knives to collect coins. Collect all the coins and a mirror opens up that you can smash into, ending the level. This 8th game in the series has a gimmick where you can walk on walls/ceilings, a talent sometimes needed to pass each level. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. I think in this case given how bad the game is, it's lack of both. Aside from that obvious defect, resolution is locked, and the controls are so twitchy it's like playing a game from the 1990s where they synced the game ticks to the CPU instead of the system clock. What a mess.
Alien Cat 8 is a casual 2D platforming adventure developed and published by Repa Games that embraces a simple, retro-inspired design philosophy. Rather than attempting to reinvent the genre, the game focuses on delivering a straightforward experience centered on jumping, exploration, and overcoming environmental hazards. As part of a long-running series, it continues the familiar formula of guiding a charming alien feline through a collection of obstacle-filled stages that reward patience, timing, and precision. The game's core gameplay is intentionally uncomplicated, making it accessible to players of all skill levels. Movement is responsive, and the controls are easy to grasp from the moment the adventure begins. The objective revolves around navigating levels packed with enemies, dangerous traps, and platforming sequences that gradually increase in difficulty. While the mechanics remain simple throughout, the challenge comes from understanding enemy placement, mastering jumps, and learning the safest paths through each stage. This approach gives the game an old-school arcade feel that will resonate with fans of classic platformers. One of the most appealing aspects of Alien Cat 8 is its commitment to a lighthearted and approachable experience. The game avoids unnecessary complexity, choosing instead to focus on pure platforming entertainment. There are no elaborate progression systems or overwhelming mechanics to learn. This design choice allows players to quickly jump into the action and enjoy the adventure without spending time managing inventories, upgrades, or lengthy tutorials. The result is a game that feels relaxing while still offering enough challenge to keep players engaged. Visually, Alien Cat 8 adopts a colorful pixel-art presentation that suits its retro roots. The environments are vibrant and easy to read, ensuring that hazards and pathways remain clearly visible during gameplay. Character animations are simple yet effective, giving the alien cat protagonist a playful personality. Although the graphics are modest by modern standards, they successfully capture the nostalgic charm that many indie platformer fans seek. The bright visual style also helps maintain a cheerful atmosphere throughout the journey. The level design demonstrates a thoughtful balance between accessibility and challenge. Early stages introduce players to the game's mechanics in a gradual manner, while later levels require more accurate movement and greater awareness of environmental dangers. Obstacles are placed strategically to encourage careful observation rather than reckless movement. This steady progression keeps the gameplay from becoming repetitive and provides a satisfying sense of improvement as players advance through the adventure. Sound design plays a supporting role in reinforcing the game's upbeat tone. The music features energetic tracks that complement the platforming action without becoming intrusive. Sound effects provide clear feedback for jumps, enemy encounters, and successful actions, helping players stay connected to the gameplay. While the soundtrack may not be especially memorable after the credits roll, it effectively enhances the overall experience and fits the game's retro aesthetic. Alien Cat 8 is not a particularly lengthy game, and its relatively short playtime may leave some players wanting additional content. However, the concise structure works in its favor by ensuring that the experience remains focused and enjoyable from beginning to end. The game delivers exactly what it promises: a compact platforming adventure designed for quick sessions and uncomplicated fun. Completionists may also appreciate the opportunity to fully explore its content without investing dozens of hours. The game's biggest weakness is its lack of innovation. Many of its ideas, mechanics, and level concepts will feel familiar to anyone who regularly plays platformers. It relies heavily on established genre conventions and rarely introduces surprising twists. Nevertheless, the polished execution and accessible gameplay help compensate for this limitation. Alien Cat 8 succeeds not because it is groundbreaking, but because it understands its audience and delivers a competent, enjoyable platforming experience. For players looking for a relaxing indie platformer with classic gameplay, colorful visuals, and a straightforward structure, Alien Cat 8 is a pleasant addition to the genre. It may not stand alongside the most ambitious platforming releases, but it provides enough charm and solid design to justify its place within the Alien Cat series. Fans of retro-style platformers and casual indie games will likely find it an entertaining way to spend a few hours. Rating: 5/10
control still sucks
Getting 100% was quick and satisfying approximate amount of time to 100%: 15-20minutes ~ Estimated achievement difficulty: 3/10 Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 Multiplayer achievements: No. Missable achievements: No. (no stage select!) Grinding Achievements: No. DLC-Only achievements: No. Time-gated achievements: No. Speed-run achievements: No. RNG-achievements: No. Does difficulty affect achievements: No choice. Unobtainable/glitched achievements: No. Point of no return: One way game. First achievement unlock: Collecting 5 coins.. Is there a good guide: No need. Notes: * The game features 3 negative achievements (die to different hazards) * When the cat jumps onto the ceiling if you hold W he sticks there. If you rub against walls as you jump then you get extra air time. * The game works on a "heartbeat" timing. Just focus on finding the next safe spot in the time you have between ticks. * The game could use some "Coyote time" so half a second after the jump you don't fall. This is a common thing in most platformers for a reason. * Not enough content for full price but if you get it for free or really cheap then it's a good way to spend 20 minutes. Surprisingly... Actually recommended.
Don't be fooled. You might think you're just an ordinary cat, jumping around, collecting some coins. BUT WAIT! You're RUSSIAN! What more could you ask for.
