U need to sell your souls just to level up 10/10 :D
15 minutes straight of skipping all the dialogue, where it HAS to train you on the entirety of how the game operates before you even start, is amazingly ridiculous. How many quests did the game actually complete for me before I could even play? Don't know, didn't get that far. After the 6th "tutorial quest" that plays the game for me, I gave up. I don't think I have ever seen such a bad intro to a game, even in a gacha, which immediately turns players off of it.

Alchemia Story, developed and published by Asobimo, Inc., is a free-to-play MMORPG that leans heavily into customization, accessibility, and a distinctly casual structure shaped by its mobile origins. It presents itself as a colorful fantasy adventure where players can explore a shared world, develop their own character, and progress through a story-driven journey, but the experience is defined just as much by its design limitations as it is by its more appealing features. One of the most immediately striking elements of the game is its character creation. It offers a surprisingly detailed system that allows players to fine-tune their avatar’s appearance with a level of precision that goes beyond many comparable titles. This emphasis on personalization extends further through the companion system, where players create a partner character that accompanies them throughout the game. This companion is not merely decorative; it actively participates in combat and narrative moments, giving the experience a more personal feel and setting it apart from more traditional MMORPG structures. The setting combines classic fantasy elements with a slightly more grounded tone, creating a world where magic, alchemy, and everyday life coexist. The story follows a familiar RPG format, guiding players through a sequence of quests and encounters that gradually reveal the broader narrative. While the premise has potential, the storytelling is often slowed by an overreliance on dialogue and scripted sequences, particularly in the early stages. This can make the opening hours feel restrictive, as players spend more time progressing through text-heavy sections than freely exploring the world. Combat operates on a command-based system that blends real-time elements with a more deliberate pace. Players select actions from a limited set of abilities, coordinating with their companion and occasionally other players. While this system is easy to understand, it lacks the responsiveness and variety found in more dynamic MMORPG combat systems. Battles can feel repetitive over time, as the range of actions remains relatively narrow and encounters do not evolve significantly in complexity. Cooperative play adds some variety, but it does not fundamentally change the underlying mechanics. Progression follows a familiar pattern of completing quests, gathering resources, and upgrading equipment. The game offers multiple classes and skill options, allowing players to experiment with different builds, but this flexibility is often overshadowed by the repetitive nature of the tasks required to advance. Grinding becomes a significant part of the experience, especially in later stages, where progress depends on repeating similar activities rather than engaging with new or varied content. A notable aspect of the game is its reliance on gacha-style systems for acquiring equipment and cosmetic items. While not overly restrictive, these systems introduce an element of randomness that can affect progression and create a sense of imbalance. Players may find themselves relying on chance as much as effort, which can detract from the feeling of steady, skill-based advancement. Visually, Alchemia Story maintains a bright and inviting aesthetic, with anime-inspired character designs and colorful environments. While the graphics are not particularly detailed, they are consistent and appealing, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The interface is generally straightforward, making it easy to navigate the various systems and menus, even as the game introduces more features. The audio design supports the experience adequately, though it does not stand out as a defining element. Despite its strengths, the game’s mobile-first design is evident throughout. The pacing often feels segmented, with systems built around short play sessions rather than extended engagement. This can make the experience feel disjointed on PC, where players may expect a more cohesive and immersive structure. The social aspect, which is central to many MMORPGs, can also feel underdeveloped, with limited interaction in certain areas and a player base that may not always feel active. Ultimately, Alchemia Story is a game of contrasts. It offers strong customization and a charming presentation, but it is held back by repetitive gameplay loops, limited combat depth, and systems that do not fully translate to a more traditional MMORPG experience. It succeeds in providing a relaxed and accessible environment for casual play, but it struggles to maintain long-term engagement for those seeking a deeper or more varied experience. In the end, it stands as a modest and approachable MMORPG that delivers moments of enjoyment, particularly in its customization and world design, but falls short of achieving a more compelling or lasting impact due to its structural limitations. Rating: 6/10
