Oh my god this is so good what the hell. I love how all monsters are challenging, I love how every turn has so many possibilities, I love how acts don't have too many encounters but they're a little bit longer, I love how the first boss pretty much requires you to master the game up to that point instead of steamrolling it because I'm used to deckbuilders and I LOVE how the game expanded past the first act. I don't know if the game is gonna have a lot of longevity because it's already getting a little repetitive after a couple of hours given you always use the same recipes. But I don't care much because learning and mastering the game is so much fun. 9/10 (My only small suggestion
would be to rework the substitute to be a permanent rule "everything can substitute a lesser element" and make the act 1 recipes require tier 0 ingredients. Nothing would change in the gameplay and you wouldn't have to specify it on every single element which is gonna take up a lot of room if more higher tiers are adder later on. This is coming from someone who has only reached act 2 so idk if something later is gonna break this suggestion but so far it seems like an improvement.(Or just make the starting ingreadients Tier 1 because that barely makes a difference.))
This game is insane! I mean, it's new at least to me, having to think about something besides numbers and other basic stuff hasn't been there before for me in a deck building game, but here I get to think about what order I have to play my hand as well! Terrific atmosphere loved the music although the game got a little bit repetitive at times but you unlock new stuff as you progress. I honestly got the game elsewhere but felt obliged to leave a positive interview which's extremely rare for me. The thing I didn't get's the ending and I don't want to spoil, but I wonder if there's something I missed to get an alternative ending or something "not like slay the spire ending thing". Otherwise, keep up the great work!
This could be the real Slay the Spire successor we've all been waiting for. Impressive entry into Early Access, just a few minor UI bugs that should be smitten quickly. Add a bit more enemy variation and sound FX and extra polish and this is it, ladies and gentlemen, the post-pandemic Slay the Spire! Kudos to the brazooka team!
Changing the review from negative to positive. I liked the dev's response to my criticisms. Plus, I still play the game, so I guess I do still like it. It does have some fun strategic elements to it. ------------------ Old review: Dragging reagents into the grid, just to do 1 attack or defend, gets old really fast. "well you don't have to keep doing it once you master a recipe" Not true. Once you die and start a new game you get to relearn all the recipes again.
Do not buy it. I tried to like this game, I really did. I came back to it multiple times hoping to give it another shot, but it's just flawed. -The game at this point is clearly abandoned. It hasn't updated in years, which was right after it released. -It's not balanced at all. Some fights are stupidly easy and others are needlessly difficult. -There's no sense of progression when you can't even consistently get into the second act. RNG in the game only sets out to annoy you instead of rewarding you. An example of it is in how the spells work. You have to rediscover them every run. It quickly becomes annoying and inconsistent. Some runs you can discover spells you need almost immediately, but other times you'll already have half of your health gone before you even correctly guess one of them. Mind you health is somewhat limited, similarly to in games like Slay the Spire. There may be a way to unlock spells, but when you have almost no money and need upgraded pieces for the second act. It becomes a game of constant micro managing just to survive long enough to unlock spells to fight a boss who does so much damage by the end that you either need rng to bless you, or enough health items to barely make it into the second act. And If your luck is as bad as mine, you will fail immediately after the boss. There are no undos, no save scumming, nothing. I may be spoiled by games like Monster Train, but at the end of the day if a game's not fun, it's not worth the money. Monster train is very forgiving, and I like it that way. I'm the kind of gamer that makes mistakes without realizing and being able to just back out and redo a fight is important to me in some roguelikes. This one could have benefited from it. I've played a lot of roguelikes, especially deck builders. This is one of my least favorite. The difficulty is similar to pegglin before it's first few updates and dicey dungeons which I have a love-hate relationship with cus I love the concept but still haven't won even once as far as I remember. I wanted this one to be good and I had hope for it after playing the demo, but I was wrong. Don't waste your money when there are better games out there. A good roguelike is a game you love to come back to even years later, but a bad one is either forgotten or dreaded. I dread coming back to this because I know nothing will be different, and that it could've become something great. TL:DR At worse the game is needlessly hard, at best it's boring and abandoned. (Also I know there are easy ways to beat the game, but if it's through a broken means and you can't consistently do it in more relaxed play styles, then what's the point?)
Awesome Game! With the potential to become the next "Slay the Spire". I am looking forward to seeing how it will evolve with future updates :D Keep working on it. You are doing a great job! :)
Jogo é ótimo, ainda falta alguns ajustes
