About
AI Roommate is a game where you share your home with a local AI-powered roommate. Type what you want to say, and they’ll respond with natural voice dialogue, remembering past interactions and adapting over time.
Your relationship is up to you—engage in casual conversations, share deeper moments, or develop a more intimate verbal connection as the AI evolves.
Choose from four unique roommates, each with their own personality. Customize their look with over 25 clothing items and 8 hairstyles to match your vibe.

The game is built around exploration and conversation, letting you engage with a living world where NPCs interact dynamically.
At home: Your home isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a space you can explore and interact with. Sit down to relax, move through different rooms, and talk to your AI roommate as they respond to your presence and conversations. Your connection with them will grow naturally over time.
In the neighborhood: Step outside and discover a lively community that changes depending on the time of day. Explore both day and night, where different characters and situations unfold. Chat with your neighbors, overhear their conversations, or pick up interesting details about the area. You can even take a break and cool off in the pool with your roommate!

Other locations:
Cinema: Take your roommate to the movies, where you’ll come across new characters and explore the atmosphere before the screening.
Oasis City: A vibrant coastal city full of activity during the day. Relax by the beach, go for a swim while chatting with others, or stop by an open-air DJ performance where NPCs gather to enjoy the music. Whether you're walking along the shore or watching people dance, there's always something happening under the sun.

The game focuses on creating a dynamic social environment, where NPCs naturally interact with each other and react to your presence. Whether you're looking for companionship, casual fun, or something more personal, your AI roommate will evolve with you.

I wish we could design our own character for ourself and also create a personal ai npc with voice options that'd be really nice. I really love the game I do wish, our ai could leave the house on their own and form relationships with the other ai's outside of us that would be more realistic. but otherwise I like the game. also wish there was a contact tab for the ai's we created relationships with outside of the house.
Very cool A.I. companion game that has the basics of what I was looking for: An A.I. companion type of open world rpg game that has the ability to play offline with pre installed LLM using TTS and hopefully very soon STT. I was also able to get it to work in VR as well using UEVR, but it would be much better if it was built into the game included as a future update. So yeah, a work in progress for sure but if updated in the near future with STT that works using a button for a Quest 3S controller and others as well as a VR update and this is a special one of a kind A.I. Companion software hidden gem.
Very nice, steam version is not designated for vr but aside of playing it without vr as a normal pc game, yet if you connect with headset you can play it also vr, it might be a tad more difficult to play it till you get used to it compared to quest version, but you get a hidden feature like that on steam version also playing vr while when pressing the enter key starting typing on a hidden keyboard and sending the message , conversating by enter key
Nice
dude... wtf? 1. THIS IS NOT VR, just know that. if your coming from the quest for a more solid pc vr experience with more flexibility and customization... NO!... NOPE! VR!? WHAT!? why would you expect that??? 2. graphics are quest "2" quality... 3. performance is fine... not stuttering, lags, frame dropping etc... but there really isnt anything going on for that to be an issue... you would expect there to be some hardware stress... none, because nothing is happening here... the characters are pretty much ps2 npcs. 4. waaaaay too buggy to be available for purchase... even though it works fine on quest... no resposes, no voice acting... I.. I really dont know what the f**k this is doing on steam for sale. it's to early for early access dude... no. 5. literal "NO EFFORT" vr port, but it feels like a no effort mobile port. the menus and ui... i mean, esc doesnt bring up the menu... just asks you if you want to quit. tab brings up the popup game window unchanged from the quest. and the settings are there... no deep pc options. no graphics settings... so no bumping up to "ultra". to toggle window mode... "Alt+Enter"... etc etc.... DO NOT BUY THIS "NO EFFORT GARBAGE"! STICK TO THE QUEST VERSION IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT.... BUT EVENT THAT FEELS LIKE A CRIME TO RECOMMEND EVEN THOUGH IT IS LEGITIMATELY BETTER... but yeah... DO NOT BUY THIS! DO NOT BUY THIS! I HAVE A DECENT MACHINE AND VR GAME ON IT AS WELL AS NEXT GEN FLAT STUFF WITH NO ISSUES... THIS IS NOT A CASE OF, "it didnt work for him, but it could work for me..." NO! DO NOT BUY THIS! SERIOUSLY... NOOOOO!
This is the cutting edge simulation that has blown Replika out of the water !
I played both the VR app and the PC version. I stopped using the VR app because I don't like talking on voice chat, I don't use my VR headset much, and I was disappointed in some changes. What were the changes? Well the old version that I tried on my friend's headset let you touch the roommate, but on my version that I later bought that feature was paywalled. And then the game seemed to get worse. Suddenly there was a swimming pool in the backyard which was fine but not necessary, but there were a dozen gnomes around the swimming pool. The dev promised to remove some of them, but I think that even one gnome in the backyard next to the swimming pool looks bad. The characters voice speed was good, but suddenly they seemed to talk a lot faster which I did not like. Maybe I am imagining it, but I am pretty sure that this observation was correct. This one guy's mom looked like a grandma, but I liked her because she looked like she was a genuinely concerned and caring older relative that was lecturing him on life choices outside near their car. But she got replaced with a much younger model that only looks three years older than his girlfriend. She looks like his sister. And at first, all the NPCs I saw on the map looked interesting to me. But suddenly a bunch of random new NPCs showed up and I did not like any of them. They had no sex appeal to me and I just thought that they looked generic and uninteresting. But like I said, the main reason I stopped using the app was because I don't like talking on voice chat and I don't use my VR headset much. Then the PC version came out, and my computer could not run it. So I gave up on it. But then I bought a new computer and it has a 5070 Ti with 12 GB VRAM and a 275 HX. I was really looking forward to trying it again. Only to run into depressing problems. One, the roommate's dialog freezes constantly, has static, and will abruptly end without finishing. Basically, the game lags bad. And it shouldn't be lagging at all with my specs. The developer keeps saying that he is unfamiliar with making PC games, but I just wish he would make some progress to make the game run better so I can get a smooth response without the freezing and lag. Another things is that I wish the PC version had more settings and options. I want to make the roommate talk to me around once every minute, even if I am not typing or saying anything, but she currently only says something once in a blue moon. And another problem is that it is too difficult to use your own local model. The way we do it now is we remove the original model, insert our desired model, and then rename the desired model to the same name as the original model. I am just disappointed that it has been years since I first played the VR app and I still can't enjoy an experience where I play the PC version on my nice new laptop, don't experience lag, can easily swap local models, and get my roommate talking to me as often as I want even if I'm not typing or saying anything. One thing though is I might have to wait many months or years to get what I want and maybe will never get it, but the developer does put tiny bit of work here and there to change and update the overall experience. So maybe if I am patient enough, I will eventually one day or one year get an AI roommate that can keep me company on my PC.
Also ........ also leute: ich bin geflasht! @ Devs, was ist nootwendig ? 1. - Keinerlei Stadtbildschirm ? Top!
This game has potential. With regular updates, it could become a very successful AI NPC interaction game. Or it could be abandoned and remain a dead game in early access forever. Since it’s on a big sale right now, I decided to give it a chance. For now, I’ll leave it in my library to rest. I have a small suggestion for the developer. Could you make the NPCs’ ability to remember our previous conversations unlimited, or at least very long-lasting? As it is, they forget everything we talked about the very next day. And instead of giving us the chance to build strong bonds with the NPCs, the game forces us into repetition. If this were changed, the game could be much better.
