Aggelos 2 is an explosive action-platformer where lightning-fast combat, precision platforming, and two opposing worlds collide. As an Aggelos, the highest order of angels, you are chosen by Balro to venture through the Kingdom of Lumen, domain of the supreme God of Light. But with Lumen under siege and the Gods facing imminent defeat at the hands of the Army of Darkness, you are forced to embrace a shadowy new form to survive the chaos of both light and dark realms.
While your angelic side favors a slower, disciplined approach, your demon form is highly agile, aggressive, and bristling with dark powers. Mastering the shift between both forms is key to survival, and only by balancing order and chaos can you hope to overcome formidable enemies, deadly obstacles, and challenging puzzles along your path.

Explore two massive, overlapping maps, each with their own unique characteristics, enemies to fight, secrets to discover, and challenges to overcome.

Switch between Angel and Demon forms to change the world and your playstyle, from precise defenses to fast assaults, mastering timing, strategy, and reflexes.

Take on hordes of enemies and conquer 13 massive bosses across both realms. Steel yourself for memorable encounters that build on the original game’s signature battles.

Solve challenges by mastering skills, memorising routes, manipulating mechanisms, avoiding traps, and interacting with the world to reveal secrets and new paths.

Collect orbs to unlock devastating special attacks, boost your strength and increase your survivability, adding a tactical layer to your progression.

Unlock new skills as you progress, from flight and wall grabs to dashes and powerful special attacks, offering up new ways to explore and reach previously inaccessible areas.

Striking pixel art and detailed sprites designed to complement smooth, fast-paced 2D gameplay.

Refreshingly great game. Fun metroidvania (find/buy power-ups kind, not level-up kind) that almost feels megaman X -like with bullet hell bosses that can either be mastered through light/dark switch mechanic (Ikaruga style) or if you know the right powered up skill, face-tanking and spamming attacks to win (which I love). It doesn't hold you hand either, expect to backtrack to discover where your power-ups are used and make good use of the map markers. Death is not penalized other than returning to a checkpoint, 10 hours to complete. I'm not clear on what others wanted from this, but Wonderboy Bobi made an awesome game worth your money/time.
This game just gets it. Aggelos 2 has that rare feeling where you start playing “for a few minutes” and suddenly realize you've been exploring, fighting and hunting for secrets for hours. The pixel art is fantastic, the controls feel great, and there's a really satisfying sense of discovery throughout the world. It doesn't try too hard to reinvent the genre — it simply understands why old-school Metroidvanias are so addictive and does it really well. Pure retro goodness with a modern touch. Absolutely loved it.

Great graphics, music and gameplay! The first game was great and this one is just as good or better than that one!
La digne suite du 1, je recommande ce jeu... Plus metroidvania que le 1er, le jeu réagit au quart de tour, les graphismes en pixelart sont de toute beauté... il y a du challenge donc ne vous attendez pas à une promenade de santé.
Wow, Gongrats on making a game THIS good! I spend whole friday with this, so many things are in balance. First I thought "I get all power ups instantly, is it too much too soon..." After getting a bit further in the game... well definitely not! I am going to edit this later but man, this game is so in balance in many ways! top5 Metroidvanias I´ve played.
Another Decent Retro Style Romp
Aggelos 2 is another great 2D action adventure game still somewhat in the style of the Wonder Boy series but feels a bit more experimental with some Demon's Crest and Ikaruga style mechanics. The map is huge and there is a lot to explore but it doesn't always feel rewarding like the first game. You still have a pretty basic story like the first game but some aspects of it feel contrived. It feels like there are fewer NPCs to interact with so the focus of the game is really on exploring the map. Pros:

The controls are pretty smooth and the mechanics are overall easy to use. You have a lot more freedom of movement compared to the first game with the ability to grapple walls and fly.
Difficulty is overall fair with no enemies feeling particularly unfair. With a mix of ranged and melee attacks as well as a great deal of maneuverability you feel capable of dealing with the enemies you find.
It offers a huge map to explore as a Metroidvania with a "dark" and "light" world to explore. You have the ability to use map markers with different colors as well to mark areas you may want to come back to.
The grappling mechanic in combination with your basic hover leads to some interesting platforming.
Music has an okay variety with some tracks feeling very Genesis/Megadrive inspired.
The spritework is still overall solid as well and looks like the kind of improvement you would see in a sequel of the era it is inspired from.
Cons:

The currency system is consistently awful throughout the game. You have a cap on the currency you can carry and have to find upgrades to carry more. The upgrades are too numerous though and only increase your capacity by 100. There also isn't a whole lot to spend money on so you'll often just have a full wallet and have to deal with picking up more money that you know you can't carry.
There definitely is not a lot of rewarding things to find in comparison to the first game. There is no new equipment, instead you just find alters where you can upgrade your sword, armor, bracelet, and wings with currency that you won't likely have due to the cap.
There is no EXP system either so there isn't a real point to killing most enemies unless they are in your way. Enemies only drop currency which you often won't need since you'll be at the cap.
The wall grappling mechanic can largely be ignored once you have access to 8-directional flying
Swapping between light and dark forms isn't really interesting or needed outside of some puzzles. You can largely just stay in one form the majority of the time and be fine. One use for switching is to destroy some enemy projectiles but some of those take multiple hits to destroy making dodging the better option.
You don't learn any new sword techniques like the first game, only 4 new magic attacks which aren't as useful as you might hope so you're just stuck with a straightforward sword attack the whole game.
I may have listed a lot of cons but Aggelos 2 is still a solid game. It's a sequel that tries to do things a bit different than the first game for better or worse.
A vast and beautiful game, packed with gameplay ideas. The main character offers a wide range of attacks, allowing the most skilled players to become more efficient. But the most important thing to say is that the game is great fun; you constantly want to unlock new areas and see what comes next.
