The voice intro upon the sales page was well done. The author/developer mentioned several things that convinced me to give the game a try. 1. His mention that he was a Navy vet gave me a little extra reason to give him the benefit of the doubt. 2. His report that he was using this game to teach his son coding was a big win in my book. 3. His lack of "promises" about the game's ready status were a plus. I hate it when developers oversell the ready for market condition of their games. 4. The third person perspective offered in the promo video was a BIG selling point. Don't lose that aspect of the game. 5. A frack of a lot of fly by night operators release games on Steam. I hope this developer actually delivers. Please, please make sure your product can be played with a laptop/touchpad vs. a mouse, developer. Good fortune to you and your customers, sir. :-) MORE IMPRESSIONS SINCE PURCHASE: The quality of the graphics are great. The game start music is great. I hope an option to listen to the music during gameplay will soon be available. The developer had some starting problems getting the purchase button to show up in all regions of the world. He may have found the problem solution and is waiting for Steam to update the resolution. As the developer states, the game is very ALPHA. Buy at this point only if you are patient and willing to help the developer to work out the bugs in the game. The game may not be optimized to work on all platforms at this point. I use a laptop and can not yet fully navigate the game controls using my touchpad as opposed to a mouse. My only complaint thus far is that the developer does not yet take the time to respond speedily to postings on the Steam discussion boards. I assume he is working steadily on improving the game. Between that and raising a family, he may not have the free time to keep his customers updated on development progress on the Steam boards. People will become frustrated soon if they don't get feedback from the Dev on the boards.
For one person there has been a lot done to this game already. Having fun watching it get better and better.
This developer has big plans for this game and eventually a sequel, so he is not going to cut and run on us like most EA title developers do (I flat out asked him). He is very responsive on discord and takes everything we the players say seriously, I asked for a longer day cycle and he put it in a patch with some other things literally 30 minutes later. This is an EA title that is worth your time, money and support, I can't wait to see what more is in store for Age of Omens. Updates and content come at a brisk pace for just one person and he is in the process of hiring more help. Give it a try, I'm so glad I took a chance even after being burned by so many other EA titles.
I was really excited to play this game and had high hopes. I just bought this game yesterday on sale for 17$ originally 22$. Unfortunately, this game isn't even worth it on sale. In the current state the game is in, it's very hard to play and the price is way to high. The combat system is very bad. It's extremely difficult to kill animals with a sword and axe. It's easier with the AI's but still needs a lot of work. The bow is extremely hard to use. The aim doesn't really work because once you aim and go to shoot it just reaims and shoots automatically. The arrow also drops really quickly and it's hard to judge this because the aim mechanic is challenging. Also by the time I aim and have to switch to the reaim and shoot button, the animal has already moved and I have to start all over. The hit box for most items are off or need to be adjusted. The torch is useless, it doesn't light up anything, just a little sliver of light on the left side of you which doesn't help at all. I don't know where to find cloth (dev if you can help me out with this one?) and for now the only way I've seen to get iron is through killing AI's not sure if caves exit or where iron is located. I'm not sure if it's because the hit box is extremely bad or if it's not possible, but I'm not able to kill anything with the starter axe which is one of the only weapons you can craft until you get a workbench which is extremely hard to get considering the combat system. Night time is brutal. The torch doesn't lit up and the campfire does so little that you can't really do anything besides cut trees if you can find one. Swimming mechanic is a little glitchy. I didn't even know it existed until a little further into the game because it wouldn't work for the first part of it. This is all I could comment on for now because it was just to hard to progress into the further stages of the game. I really think this game will get so much better. I see promise in this developer. However, for now, especially with the high price, I can't recommend it. It's sad because I've never thumbs down a game before, but I'm sure my review with change for the better as the game progresses. The dev seems very dedicated, he's listening to the community, being very engaging, and posts many updates. I wish this game luck, and can't wait to see it progress.
Normally as Things go I will update my reviews, so keep posted if your interested on where the game is kind of at. So quick things is the game is great, It's early stage yes, There is however a satisfying amount of area to explore, lots of crafting options, and a rather nice building system, I have played a large sum of games with building, and this one does it very well. The Dev is constantly updating the game, bringing fixes and new content, It's single/multi I haven't actually made a multiplayer game, I am fine being alone.... So if you wan't to join us on this quest we are taking in the future of a game made by someone who loves games as much as us, then you are in the right place. This game has hit that spot I look for when I feel like the dev understands our concerns , and Is more worried about trying to improve everyones experience, and the expanse of the game, then release DLC cosmetics for money , because that's the norm now a days. Come join the discord, Try the demo, This game is going to be a must for your survival and rpg library, and I want you to be here as it all unfolds. I hope to see you in discord, This game is going to places we always hope games will. A dev that is making a game for the players and the love of the game. Which just feels so forgotten these days.
I love watching the evolution of this game!
Ok I have followed the game for 5 years. First I wrote a negative review, in 2019 I thought the dev was unrealistic. 7-8 months later I checked the game and was quite impressed with what had been done and made a positive review. but then the game totallt lost direction, and a year ago the dev said himself he had been unrealistic, and would make the game smaller and a new major overhaul was just around the corner. Since then no news, no answers to people asking about the major update. So I tried to take a look if something actually has happened today. Well, there has..Now I can't even start the game. It says I'm missing some file. 5 years ago the dev said the game would be finished in a year or less. I said he was unrealistic, it wouldn't be done in 1 year, or two, perhaps in 3 years but I doubted it. Now it is 5 years and I can't even start it. I'll leave it up to potential buyers if they think this game will ever be finished. I myself has lost patience and the game will be removed from my account.
is good
