First impressions - pretty good. Will continue playing casually, will see how it goes.

I've been playing computer games since I was 8 years old, seeing all the evolution in games graphics and gameplay mechanics along many years... by playing this game, I felt some of the nostalgia of old soccer games, by enjoying the simplicity of the controls and gameplay. Active Soccer 2023 is a game to play when you only want to have fun, without having to memorize dozens of controls combinatons in order to score a goal! The game is simple but at the same time with lot of features, with focus on the type of competitions available and the way how to set them up. Of course that the game can be upgraded, in many ways... it is cheap (it's the price of a meal of a fast-food restaurant) and you can have many hours of gameplay without getting bored! Give this game a chance and support the author!

Me parece una pena que un juego que aportaba tanto como Active Soccer, consolidado además durante varios años, se haya estropeado a sí mismo solo por querer imitar la estética de moda 3D. El problema no es simplemente gráfico, sino que han eliminado una jugabilidad testada y casi perfecta por otra que hace aguas por todas partes. La gracia del Active Soccer es que tenías a la vez los enormes Kick Off y Sensible Soccer, dependiendo de como configurases sus sliders. Era la evolución de esos dos grandes juegos a nuestros días. Con esta versión, no solo no funciona bien casi nada, sino que han eliminado ese punto "Kick Off", pues ya no llevas el balón "de forma suelta". Ya que el juego está aún en fase de desarrollo, pido encarecidamente a sus creadores que vuelvan a la jugabilidad inicial. Tendrían un ganador seguro.

The game has a lot of potential, and there are several things I really enjoyed, especially the classic teams and the Career Mode. What made me request a refund, and why I can't recommend it at the moment, is the gameplay. It lacks weight and doesn't feel satisfying to play, even for a retro-inspired football game. Improving the physics, ball control, passing accuracy, and the overall feel of the gameplay would completely change the experience. There are also a few bugs that are quite frustrating, particularly during the tutorial and penalty kicks. It feels like a lot of effort went into recreating modern squads and real-life players. While it's certainly nice to recognize famous players, that honestly wasn't my main reason for buying this game. A few suggestions for the developers, besides improving the gameplay: - Improve the UI/UX of the menus while keeping the retro aesthetic. - It would be amazing to play classic tournaments from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, with era-appropriate balls, pitch conditions, and presentation. To me, this game has the potential to become the Formula Legends (3DClouds) of football. The foundation is there, but I believe the gameplay should be the top priority before anything else.

This review is based on a Gaming handheld Asus Rog Ally at max settings and a Gaming pc with a 3070, 32gb ram and a ryzen 7 5800x This is my perfect alternative to the fifa/fc24 franchises. Also compared to other arcade/retro games out which have very poor ai. This stands above them all with a good AI system, the passing, dash and shooting mechanics are very good. The latest update which came out today 1.0 has improved the game even more with more optimisation and fixed some present bugs. As well as updated all teams to today's current player squads. Going forward I can see this game getting better still with more additional features such as: Corners call player to come short In the subs/tactics menu being able to select a captain, freekick, penalty and corner taker. Improvements to the snow/rain for optimisation, the snow perhaps needs to be reduced to allow less stutter. Teams benches, staff etc at side of pitch. Possibly a ref and linesman but not essential. Perhaps a option for ingame radio linked to a online library of radio stations. Additional game modes such as 5 and 7 a side. I'm aware this is likely to ne a seperate game called futsal mania which looks good when it's out. Developer is very quick to answer to any questions/issues in the official discord, Current state as of 21/11/23 game is a 8.5/10. Updated the below as of 28/12/25 Game runs perfectly on steamos on my legion go s with no issues. Optimising could be improved for lighter power options. But the game runs fine on balanced power mode with medium settings. Low power mode I would avoid currently as it will stutter. This is the only footy game on steam which is close to a proper football without anticheat. So works perfect for steamos players.

Liczyłem na coś zupełnie innego. Idzie np. dośrodkowanie i teraz jest dylemat. Włączyć kierunek w którym zawodnik na uderzyć piłkę, czy nie. Bo jak wybiorę, to zawodnik może odbiec. A jak nie wybiorę, to on sam wybierze kierunek. Stąd wiele sytuacji, gdy piłka sobie leci, gdzie chce. Strzały - kolejna rzecz, która wymaga wspomagania. Jeżeli przepycham się z obrońcą i próbuję wcisnąć kierunek strzału, to stracę piłkę. Nie dam kierunku, to spudłuję. W ISS Pro 98, było wspomaganie dla obrońców, czyli samoczynne ustawianie się na napastnika z piłką. Po 26 latach, gra, która ma być retro, tego nie potrafi. Samouczka nie skończyłem przez bugi. Np. bramkarz łapie piłkę i sobie stoi. Ponieważ mam zrobić samouczek defensywny, więc nie steruję bramkarzem. Sprint. Włącza się go RB, ale czy trzeba pompować, czy po prostu cisnąć - nie wiem. Nie widzę za bardzo różnicy w prędkości, bez względu czy popuję, czy trzymam. LB - osłanianie piłki. Nie stosuję. Samouczek w tym aspekcie skończyłem co prawda, ale zdaje się, że nie do końca tak, jak chciał twórca. Po wciśnięciu LB zostawiam piłkę, choć podobno miałem ją osłaniać przez 3 sekundy. No to po prostu biegłem na obrońcę i blokowałem mu drogę. Nie wierzę, że to ma tak wyglądać, bo w tym czasie po prostu ktoś zabierze bezpańską piłkę, więc jaki w tym sens? Odbiór - wślizg (nie stosuję, bo czuję, że to się skończy źle. No to po prostu przebiegamy przed nosem przeciwnika i zabieramy piłkę. Bieg do piłki - żadnego wsparcia - jeśli się pomylisz i wyhamujesz za wcześnie, to nie przejmiesz piłki. Z tego najczęściej przeciwnik strzela gole. Oraz z przełączania graczy. Nim się przełączy na prawidłowego, to już nie ma po co biec. Wszystko, co powyższe było na poziomie łatwym. Na poziomie trudnym nie gram, bo pewnie pad by oberwał. Miałem już kiedyś do czynienia z grą Viva Football - bardzo podobna gra. Jedyna, na której dosłownie połamałem pada ze złości. I bardzo podobna do Active Soccer 3. Aczkolwiek AS3 jest jednak lepszy. W każdym razie gra, jeśli chodzi o grywalność, jest słabsza niż ISS '98. Pewnie jeszcze będą w nią grał, ale trzeba pamiętać, że tu nie rywalizuje się z przeciwnikiem, ale z silnikiem gry. Dlatego raczej solowe gry nie mają sensu. Na koniec - grałem Brazylią Classic przeciwko Walii i wygrywałem 2:0. Przeciwnik w drugiej połowie dostał świra i zaczął cisnąć, jakby to on był Brazylią, a ja Walią. W końcu wygrałem 4:1, ale trzeba się liczyć, że rywale miewają turbowspomaganie od gry i wynik nie odzwierciedlał tego, co tam się działo. Gra ma 700 mb, czyli o żadnych wodotryskach graficznych nie ma mowy. To akurat najmniej dla mnie ważne, ale warto wspomnieć.

Even if you temper your expectations - the game will still let you down like your favourite football team. Thought I'd give this a go since it's not FIFA and pro evo's dead - Even at a 1.0 release, I can't recommend this game. The players feel like they're skating with the ball and there's no dribbling or ball control. The positives : -The file size is tiny. Currently under a GB in size. -Its not FIFA Negatives: -Its not pro evolution soccer. - feels like a game in an alpha state -Very buggy training section especially with the goalies. -Tapping R2 over and over to sprint = bad game design Verdict Go with efootball instead, it'll be better value for time and money. (Free & far superior) To the Devs, please look and study konami's pro evolution soccer, if you looking for ideas on how to improve.

Lot better than Englands chances of winning another WC...

A game for the Experienced Soccer Gamer (review on the 1.0 launch fo the game): I think the game is designed for the experienced soccer gamer, as the unique Shield game mechanic does give the game something unique and a bit of depth. And on the tactics, there the game is developed quite strongly. So if you are an experience soccer gamer this game might be for you. As the developer is very involved and open to suggestions and feedback from the community, that I believe also consists mostly of Experienced Soccer Gamers. Not for the Casual Soccer Gamer like me (review on the 1.0 launch of the game): For me it does fall short on the following three key gameplay mechanics. - Complete lack of control on defending corners, the manual selection / auto selection both will act like a pinball machine switching between players. Same for competing for high balls on the center of the pitch. Althoug I do admit, this might just be a skill issue for the casual soccer gamer. - A far too cumbersome Shielding game mechanic, that is very very contra intuitive to use at all. And therefore also the absense of a Jockey mechanic to block incoming balls from attackers (as the game expects you to use the cumbersome Shielding game mechanic for this it seems). - The aftertouch curve is not really working for me when using the thumbstick, and my workaround using the D-pad instead in the end was just too cumbersome. If I could I would give this game a 50/50 score, but since I can not I rather recommend the game to Experienced Soccer Gamers. As I do really respect the effort this indie developer is putting into the game. Even though the game is not for me. Please note, the response of the developer on the 4th of december 2023 below is on a previous Early Access review of the game.
