Before I played A Story In Space, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Very good. I could not find any glitches. Nice job!!
This game was really fun. You could tell that a lot of effort was put into this game. I really recommend this game to people of all ages, especially people who enjoy the older Pokemon/Zelda games. Thanks so much for putting a modern twist to an old style of gaming

A Story in Space is a laughably badly made 2D retro pixel/MS-Paint style JRPG ripoff that makes RPG Maker asset flips look like a work of art. There's some basic story about space and so on but the graphics and interface are so awful here it's impossible to get into it. I don't know if this is a student project or a joke, but it really is very badly done, as the screenshots show, it looks like the work of a 5 year old spending half an hour with MS-Paint. The rest of the technical implementation is on par with the visuals. If this was a student project, well, the student failed. Apart from being very poor quality, it's not technically completely free, as the developer wants you to pay them money through Patreon... this is basically digital panhandling, like the homeless guys that splash dirty water on your windshield at the traffic lights for a tip. This should be avoided as it's unlikely this is even a serious attempt at making something of value or interest to gamers.
This isn't a bad game but there are some issues. I'd recommend a playthrough if these things don't bother you because the battles had interesting, if not easily cheeseable, mechanics and the art was charming (to me personally at least). 1. The interface was an issue for me. I kept accidentally closing the game because I'm primed to believe that button is the menu button...which this game doesn't have as far as I can tell. Maybe choosing buttons that are historically for certain actions would help out here. This could very well just be a personal problem. 2. I got a headache because there's something weird happening with the graphics at times- there's this strange glitching that seems to hit my migraine zone. Again- likely a personal problem but something to check out. 3. The first part of the game was tedious as heck. I did not like having to go back and forth over and over again. I didn't find it intuitive. Maybe some sort of poster or some hint in game (via lore or whatever) would help explain what to do and why we're doing it? I'd recommend that for the piano puzzle too. I didn't get past it because of the aforementioned headache. You did a pretty good job here! I just think some polish and maybe some in game explanations would help a lot regarding puzzles and what we're supposed to be doing. Overall- not a bad attempt at all and please keep it up! Edit: Grammar....that headache tho.
A story in space... is a story in space told by an almighty wizard about a bounty hunter who tracks down hats and then proceeds to go onto a rampage to kill the king. Why? Theres a bounty on his head. If this sounds crazy, then... yes, you are correct. It definitely feels crazy but ,paradoxically, it was just the right amount of weirdness I needed for the evening. First of all: The gameplay -Its fighting is akin to turn-based rpgs (and undertale as well) -You might have to run around in a field for a few minutes collecting carrots for the carrot eater, who imposed a carrot tax upon his village, towards anyone who would leave to the east side of the village. -There are a few puzzles, which depend on trial and error. The graphics: Look at the trailer: This is beyond comprehension. As an avid Dwarf fortress player, this feels like a revelation You wont believe in what way it will affect you The lore:
I have done one playthrough and I still cant wrap my head around it. First you kill trees, because they stole a hat Then you learn of the bounty placed on the kings head Then you kill the bounty leader because he works for the king Then you kill fruits and carrots Then you kill a big block who eats carrots after you gave them to him Then the king confronts you and offers you a deal (you cant kill him now) Then you either go to some planet and kill an evil queen or go kill the king Your friend, who supported you, leaves when you go kill the king although he was fine with it earlier And this is exactly the path I took If you played Undertale however, then you already know the outcome of this path. Either that or you could actually spare people in this game, though I dont know how. Anyways you then kill your friend, who appears as the Fearmaster. Then you give a guard a burrito. And now you finally confront the king. And now he wants to be a hero by killing you. The king who almost started a war wants to be a hero by killing the one man who took down 30 guys. Then you decimate him And lastly you confront the mage The bounty hunter you play feels remorse You beat him he pulls a sans *roll credits* To be fair, I was in a discord call while playing this and we all had great fun just talking about all the different characters. But there might be more to this story!
The soundtrack... Its made up out of deeply connected synth cords(?) You could feel the tension, the emotion The music alone invoked my inner fears at
THE Fearmaster!!!
. Just listen to the Trailer Should you bother with this game? Its about actions and their consequences Deep philosophical debates about the treacherous thoughts the human mind can conspire Sadly however, i did not feel anything All these characters, all their feelings, their emotions, they all swept away like badly drawn cartoons I had my fun with it however Grab some friends, stream it and lets go It really is funny And free!
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ banger soundtrack and game
Absolutely ugly and badly interfaced game.
