Это не хоррор в привычном понимании, скорее, атмосферная бродилка, где тревога нагнетается не скримерами, а ощущением гнетущей тайны и одиночества. Блуждание по тёмному лесу, шелест листвы, редкие проблески лунного света - всё это создаёт удивительно жуткую, но при этом завораживающую атмосферу. Сюжет, раскрывающийся через обрывочные записки и видения, оставляет больше вопросов, чем ответов, что только подстёгивает интерес. Отсутствие чёткого объяснения происходящего позволяет игроку самому интерпретировать события и ужасы, таящиеся в лесной чаще. Графика, хоть и простая, прекрасно передает угнетающую красоту умирающего леса. Несмотря на небольшую продолжительность, ‘A Murmur in the Trees’ – это запоминающееся путешествие в глубины подсознания и тёмные уголки человеческой души. Рекомендую всем, кто ищет что-то большее, чем просто способ приятно провести время, и готов погрузиться в атмосферу психологического дискомфорта. Это игра, которая ещё долго будет шептать у вас в голове.

"A Murmur in the Trees" is a short "adventure" game, more walking sim than anything else, with some very lightweight puzzles and a little tiny bit of "action" at some point. You play a reporter investigating the Moonshine Murders in prohibition-era America. What do you do in the game? Trudge along last century's redneck moonshine country and plod through a narrative. The puzzles are very lightweight and the narrative is unengaging, to say the least. The game is quite short, and can be run through in less than an hour. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $8 USD for this... that's a bit rich. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. It's also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who paid money for this... nobody got refunded. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough. At best this could be seen as a "maybe" option, but Valve doesn't give us that. If they did, that's what I'd choose.
