This game is a masterpiece. I played it on my friend's account for a while before purchasing it for myself, and it was money well spent. The gameplay itself is a bit of a drag at times, but the inclusion of fetch-mirrors makes the later game travel a lot less boring, and it's absolutely worth it for the visceral storytelling. A House of Many Doors builds a web of relatable stories about a range of characters with so much depth and complexity you start to care for them as if they were real people. It's immersive, and really captures that feeling of "We live in a hellhole and everything wants to kill us" without everything just being constantly drab and depressing. I cried when I reached the end of the game, in a good way. 10/10 please play this game it changed my life
A House of Many Doors is one of my absolute favorites that I keep coming back to. The narration is superb, and reading the descriptions alongside the illustrations makes my imagination flare like no other game can. The story is pretty good and it's encapsulated in and out of itself, so you how far you want to go/know falls down to your will to go beyond/explore all the rooms. The fact that the dev also is still updating the game while also restoring some planned features that on launch couldn't be added is just magnificent. Would be nice to have more Romances, but the ones that are there are enough for a baseline.

I adore this game. I've played it off and on since it was released in 2017. The stories in this game are full of interesting lore and quests that add depth to this unnerving massive underground room. You play as a train driver that drives through various rooms to locate a way out of the "House." Along the way you recruit people to your train's staff as well as solve mysteries for those in the various cities you encounter. Each region of the House has it's own enemies and secrets to uncover. Combat involves trains basically shooting their ammunition at each other. The game shows the two trains next to each other from a top-down perspective so you can see the stations and rooms in the train. This lets you direct your people on where to go for repair and where to shoot the enemy. One can aim the cannons but whether the accuracy is high enough depends on the installed weapons and any upgrades. I personally tried to avoid combat since that wasn't as interesting as exploring and uncovering stories. The way this game projects a creeping horror is so well done. I also like how the attributes play a role in achieving one's goal or not (such as if Guile is too low, a test of Guile may be very difficult to overcome. In that case I may either risk the consequences of failing or back out to try again after I raised my Guile. Note that some decisions cannot be backed out of and returned to later). Overall, for a creepy horror game, it's well worth the adventure. Can you find a way out of the House? Or will you be left wandering its halls forever?
Did you like Sunless Sea? Would you like it to be... worse?
I love Failbetter Games' "Fallen London" and this game desperately wants to be that, but I quit after the first combat. This game has a great premise but is just not fun to play and starts you off hopelessly lost.
It's my favourite game, ever. Storytelling, worldbuilding, everything is astounding- the travel can be a bit bothersome, but that's been fixed in the recent patch. Get it!
Sunless Sea was interesting, so I decided to try this game, but I don't like it. Perhaps I should give it more time, but the first impression was negative.
Very similar to Sunless Seas- I love it!
没有汉化,但是好玩……另外传送镜子真好用
it's like dnd for people who would eat glass under the slightest amount of peer pressure
