Very cool little game. A steal for 4 bucks. It seems you unlock stuff with more play throughs, though the box is greyed out for progression. I just beat the first boss (totally challenging) so maybe that will unlock it. I keep running into new items and some are VERY cool. Having my sword-bearers doing 5 dmg a piece is very nice. Definitely grab this is you like TB games.
tldr: just want a gameplay video? its below the review. Short form review for easy digestion: It has a fun gameplay loop with nuances that make you feel you learn something with each run; while still dependent on RNG your skill can overcome this. Would recommend as its a good game especially for 5 dollars. Longer review: The main gameplay loop is focused on RNG item acquisition to empower your characters throughout the run. There are three primary slots: Head, Body, Weapon. Each item can have a set of characteristics that change the way your character works. For example: a broom that can heal allies or damage enemies and push them one tile. Enemies start with a set amount in the fight and can filter in periodically according to their turn timer. You also get potions/scrolls during combat to help augment your fight. There is also a puzzle mode to unlock after you beat the orcs. That is the main gist of the game, but how does each aspect feel? Difficulty/Learning Curve: As with most roguelike or Turned-based/X games there is a learning curve to get better at the game. This game is not inherently difficult once you pick up the mechanics of the game. Each run you will find yourself learning a new trick or two in order to progress further than your last run. There is a noticeable difficulty spike after the first boss which just may crush you and feel unfair; but do not despair, for if you look back at your run you will notice that you made many many small mistakes. And those mistakes add up! You could have done this better, combined these items to make this combo, or even positioned differently. Then it all makes sense! It was not a large difficulty spike, but instead a moderate one that you are now prepared to deal with. That is what makes the game enjoyable for its gameplay loop. Each time you do a little better and understand why you lost previously. Animations: I quite like the animations in the game. Each weapon has a little swing to it instead of your character just tilting at the enemy. Each model has a nice little jaunt to it when they swagger in to battle and looks fluid instead of awkward or stiff. There are even nice idle animations for when the character is selected to help signify which character is active. Sound Design: The sounds in game were not too intrusive and overall pleasant to the ear. The whacks, dings, hits and other such things weren't overwhelming nor underwhelming; just about the correct state of existence. Usually games have a problem where a singular spell or ability can drive you absolutely batty such as the flashbang noise prevalent in a lot of shooters (please, my poor ears!). The only sound that was more noticeable than the others was the characters laughing when moved frequently; but hey I'd probably have a laugh if I was forced to farm monsters for a living too. Graphics: The overall look of the game works quite well. Everything is defined quite clearly without feeling muddy or busy to look at. A lot of games fall in to the issue where they add too much detail in a pixelated manner that makes their game a bit hard to look at and tell what is going on at a quick glance. This one does a good job at keeping it clean so you can quickly tell whats happening without pausing for thought. Its also real nice for recording file sizes! A 40 minute video of this was only 1GB compared to the normal 8~ GB I record for the same length. Bugs: Only encountered a single bug during my playing of the game which didn't matter too terribly much. Slight annoyance but entirely avoidable if you don't have a constant need to press a mouse button like I do. Overall Experience: I enjoyed the game overall. I would recommend the game to turn based tactics enthusiasts that don't mind RNG elements; especially if you're someone who doesn't have a ton of time to play. The game can save your run whenever you select quit so unlike other roguelikes where you might feel pressured to keep playing to not lose progress, you don't have to worry about that in this game. If you want a video to look at, I play the game for roughly 35 minutes at a very mediocre skill level. https://youtu.be/ARefUeZN3Vc
I like this one. It throws you into a series of battles, and at the end of each battle there will be new pieces of equipment. The characters are classless, and their abilities come from the equipment only, which can have a surprisingly wide range of effects. From basics like movement speed increase over hp and armor, to more uncommon ones like the ability to shoot laser beams anywhere on the field, healing every ally you pass by, and many more. There are also many interesting synergies to discover. One combo that carried me hard was on guy who would recover hp with every square moved, and another guy who could heal others and additionally move them around. This made the first character so tanky he was very near unkillable. Which items you get is different each run, so every time you get a new shot at figuring out a combo that will carry you through the arena.
Only a hour in but very cool little game for a good price. You get units that you equip with different gear. The gear decides the units build. Archer/Healer/Tank with the amount of items in the game class building almost seems endless. The battlefield is small and the game WILL be difficult at first.I can tell the game gets easier as I die but not exactly sure how or why. I'm sure I'll learn more as I go. As of right now I would recommend to anyone who like strategy games. It will take some thinking if you want to make it far in this game. As I play more I will update this review but this should be enough to get y'all started.
"Немного" ("a bit" в названии) здесь ключевое. В игре есть бой в одной комнате, смена экипировки и врагов после боя. Все. Повторять пока не надоест. Мне надоело быстро, но это не недостаток игры. Она дает то, что и обещает. Поэтому возврат и ... рекомендация попробовать.
needs balancing
I don't understand this games definition of "easy" as I've yet to clear the game once beyond the first boss. You get to a point where the game just sends out wave after wave of enemies and you don't have near any sort of damage output to deal with any of them before you just get ganged up on. There's a key difference between being "challenging" and just impossible due to random equipment drops from each level. It's just not fun to bash your head against impossible odds over and over.
Really enjoying this game. Its easy to get in and out of. I've noticed a few little "glitches" but nothing game breaking. Cant wait to see how it develops further.
It's a simple tactics game as advertised with some variety due to random equipment and weapons that you can pick up. It's cheap, so no big worries there, but you can probably find more engaging titles to spend your time upon.
