As a kickstarter backer of the table-top version, and requisite expansions, I was excited with the offer, due to the results of the campaign, to acquire a digital license for the base software prior to release. The game itself is a reasonable analogue to the table-top game -- which I greatly enjoy. However, the format of content release, price points, and the way in which achievements have been designated, make this a non-starter. Having paid a reasonable sum for the table-top versions I have no real desire to "pay again" for content I already own in physical form. Additionally, being a bit of an achievement hunter in steam, in order to " complete" the achievements for 8-bit attack it is clear that one will have to buy all the DLC -- as the achievements are clearly designed around individual heroes who are pay-walled behind DLC. The retro graphical style and music are enjoyable, as is the general design of the game -- it is, overall, a lovely product but only if you do not already own the "real world" versions. This cannot be recommended as a buy if you have the table-top versions -- it is simply not worth the cost. If you do not own the hard-copy version of this franchise then 8-bit attack is worth your consideration.

To be fair, I played the demo, so... The menu is a little fidgity, when you move your cursor over a button the button will slightly enlarge and make a sound but sometimes it would repeatedly, quickly do that effect until I moved my mouse again. A lot of the buttons were hard to click, as if the hit-boxes for those buttons were not placed correctly. Music volume was super low even when set to maximum level. The game is super hard, I played with four heroes (essentially 4P) but would repeatedly get beaten even at level 3 and 4 battles. It's very difficult to win because so many monsters deal critical hits and/or multiple crit hits. As well as many of the common enemy tactics (orange side of die) are super strong even though they're the most common tactic to be rolled. The last boss is impossible, because by the time you manage to defeat the champions, you're all out of gas and the boss still had 75 HP (and deals at least 6 damage per turn; sometimes 6 to each player). The final boss will obliterate you in two turns. The style is nice and it can go quickly because it's a video game compared to the board game, but it's just roll dice and choose who you want to attack. The only strategy is deciding which enemy to deal damage to which hero. I want to like this game but it's so frustrating. At least with the board game you can house-rule a lot of things. I don't know what the price for this game is, I got it for free for backing the physical game, but having to pay for the extra characters sucks. As of now, I can't recommend this video game, and I'm reluctant to open my copy of the physical game.
Забавная игра! Я почти закончил разблокировать дополнительных персонажей из DLC, прежде чем приступить к стандартной кампании.
This is a demo: only 4 characters if you don't pay for DLC. That is not a good practice for free-to-play
Very interesting turn based combat game. I like the different abilities of all characters. The game is a bit more difficult than it seems, but very fun. Here is some gameplay for those curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXMLVudLDSA
Almost as fun as the last time I went camping and my family was asleep and I had to take a dump in the woods and got my hands dirty without any toilet paper in sight for miles. The kids were screaming, my wife wouldn't help me and I got poo all over the steering wheel just so I could make it to a rest stop 8 miles away but I ran out of gas half a mile before I got there! It was a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ day but this game is even worse. At least I can dispose of this turd much easier than the one I had in the woods awhile ago and I won't have to cleanup and risk getting my hands dirty and getting more ♥♥♥♥ all over the place in the process!
I really like the game play. It's fast and easy. What I don't like is that the designers intentionally made the game extremely difficult to win without a lot of good luck. If you get the right monster draws & dice rolls it can be done. Perhaps it might even be easy with great luck. With average luck it's unlikely you'll win. There will be those out there that claim to have won the first time easily. (They had great luck... or they're lying.) However, how many game rule books have you read that specifically tell you that you're probably not going to win, but to try again and again. "Practice makes perfect." The price is right, but unless you like a frustrating challenge where you lose over and over, I can't recommend this game.
