Match 3 game but with a twist! Different power blocks like freeze, fireball, fireworks. You have to clear blocks on marked squares to get rid of them and complete the stage. You can drag blocks while everything is exploding on screen at the same time to rack up combo. Recommended for casual gamers.
Again like my other reviews on this series, It reminds me alot of bejeweled. Simple but fun enough. Would personally recommend this when the bundle goes on sale.
A really good match 3 game with plenty of levels to play.
7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour, developed by MumboJumbo and published by Accelerate Games, continues the established puzzle-building formula of the long-running series while introducing a stronger fantasy atmosphere centered around mythical civilizations and legendary locations. Combining match-three gameplay with resource management and gradual construction systems, the game creates a casual experience focused on progression, relaxation, and rebuilding extraordinary places pulled from mythology and imagination. Rather than dramatically changing the formula established by earlier entries, it expands the concept through magical settings that help give the adventure a more imaginative identity. The central idea revolves around traveling across famous mythical destinations while restoring them to their former glory. Instead of focusing entirely on historical wonders, players journey through legendary locations associated with stories and folklore. Places like Atlantis, Camelot, El Dorado, Shangri-La, and Valhalla become the foundation of progression as players slowly reconstruct each destination through puzzle-solving and resource collection. The fantasy direction gives the game additional personality while helping locations feel visually distinct throughout the journey. Gameplay remains centered around classic match-three mechanics. Players align identical runes and symbols across puzzle boards to gather materials required for ongoing construction projects. The structure remains easy to understand, allowing newcomers to settle into the gameplay quickly while longtime puzzle fans immediately recognize familiar systems. The formula favors accessibility over complexity, creating an experience built around steady progression rather than difficult mastery. One of the stronger aspects of Magical Mystery Tour comes from how effectively it connects puzzle-solving to larger goals. Successful matches contribute directly toward rebuilding legendary sites piece by piece, giving every completed objective a visible sense of accomplishment. Watching ruined landmarks gradually transform into completed wonders provides satisfying progression that strengthens long-term engagement. The construction system also reinforces momentum by expanding the workforce over time. As players advance further into the adventure, additional workers and specialists become available to support rebuilding efforts. This gradual expansion creates a rewarding feeling of growth while helping progression feel larger than simply moving from puzzle board to puzzle board. Power-up mechanics introduce additional variety without overwhelming the game’s casual structure. Larger combinations reward players with stronger effects capable of accelerating resource collection and improving efficiency during busier puzzle sections. These systems create opportunities for strategy while remaining approachable enough for players looking for a more relaxing experience. The fantasy presentation helps distinguish the game from many other puzzle titles operating within similar mechanics. Mythological environments provide stronger visual variety while creating a sense of adventure that supports progression naturally. The changing locations help maintain freshness even though the underlying gameplay remains consistent. Mini-games occasionally appear to break up puzzle progression and provide smaller gameplay variations between larger sections. While these additions do not dramatically alter the overall structure, they help diversify pacing and prevent repetition from becoming overly noticeable during extended play sessions. Visually, the game embraces colorful presentation that supports readability effectively. Puzzle boards remain clear even during more active moments, while fantasy environments contribute atmosphere without distracting from gameplay. The art direction favors charm and accessibility over visual complexity, which aligns well with the game’s overall design philosophy. Audio design similarly supports longer play sessions. Relaxed music and lighter sound effects reinforce the casual tone while helping create an experience that remains comfortable to play for extended periods. The soundtrack complements the slower pacing particularly well and strengthens the game’s relaxing qualities. The pacing itself becomes one of the title’s strengths. Magical Mystery Tour understands that casual puzzle games succeed by creating satisfying momentum rather than constant difficulty escalation. Progression remains steady and rewarding without introducing unnecessary pressure. Players can comfortably move through the experience at their own pace while still maintaining a feeling of advancement. There are limitations tied to the game’s familiar structure. Players looking for major innovation within the match-three genre may find the mechanics intentionally traditional. The challenge level also stays relatively approachable, meaning experienced puzzle veterans may progress comfortably without encountering major resistance. However, those design decisions align closely with the game’s goals. MumboJumbo clearly focused on creating a welcoming puzzle experience built around fantasy exploration and long-term progression rather than complexity. The result remains focused and confident in what it wants to deliver. What makes 7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour enjoyable is how effectively it balances familiar puzzle mechanics with fantasy world-building and visible progression systems. Rebuilding legendary civilizations while gradually unlocking new locations creates satisfying momentum that encourages continued play without unnecessary complication. For players who enjoy casual puzzle experiences, match-three mechanics, and fantasy settings built around exploration and reconstruction, 7 Wonders: Magical Mystery Tour offers an accessible and entertaining adventure that succeeds by refining proven ideas rather than reinventing them. Rating: 8/10
I now have all of the 7 Wonders and this is the best one. I love the extra puzzles to finish off each level.
Good match-3 game, well-made wequel to the series, with interesting power-ups and challenges.
Not the first 7 Wonders, not the first Magical Mystery Tour
