About
Want to learn Blender but don't know where to start? Start here.
Built for complete beginners. If you already know Blender, this game is not for you.
3D Skills Start Here teaches your first steps in Blender through play, mini games, and puzzles. No tutorials to sit through. You learn by doing. If you already know what G, R, and S do, you're past what this game teaches.
Backed by over 1,000 supporters on Kickstarter and built by a small team that believes learning Blender shouldn't start with countless YouTube videos you pause every 8 seconds.
What you'll learn:
Orbit, Pan, Zoom — move the camera and look around a 3D scene
View Selected — snap your view to any object instantly
Move, Rotate, Scale — place, spin, and resize objects exactly where you want them
Delete, Add Objects — clear the scene and bring in new shapes
Camera Render — frame a shot and capture it as an image
Object vs Edit Mode — switch between moving whole objects and reshaping them
Vertices, Edges, Faces — select and edit the building blocks of any 3D model
Collectible Creator Cards are hidden throughout the game, each featuring a real Blender creator and their work. Finish the game and you'll know exactly where to keep learning.
Suzanne is your guide. DUBE is your problem. Pick up the skills, free your friends, and find out if you've got what it takes to start creating in 3D.

i helped fund this game on kickstarter 2 years ago, wanted it to do well but there just isnt anything worth buying rn. game dev is hard but damn i feel you couldve made something more with $40k and 2 years. whats available is not worth $6 let alone the $50 i did to back it. shouldve stayed in beta, i get needing more money but like, this is how you destroy your reputation lowkey
EDIT: The Early Access Update #2 shows that the devs are listening to feedback and invested in making this game a really strong resource for starting out, and shows appreciation for more experienced users by enabling hotkeys that *should* work in Blender, like snapping to side perspectives! I'm excited to see where it goes. --- Initial Review below line --- Needs more time in the oven. Love the concept, but I don't love the interactions, speed, or total nonresponsiveness of the quit button on the main menu or sound controls.

4 playable lv only?! yikes.. doesn't teach anything other than camera movements and scale object
Very fun experience!! This game has a lot of potential. Even though it's a bit limited for the moment due to its state of development, I think it's an awesome idea. If my input is of any help, I think it would be good to implement a way to adjust the sensitibity when orbiting around with shift+cmb (just like the zoom sensitibity slider). Maybe there's already a way to do this and I haven't seen it? I tried looking for it but couldn't find it. Other than that, awesome game. I'll be here to support and try out new updates!
I really wanted to love this game. But, as it currently stands, there some issues that I've found. 1. The UI is buggy. On the title screen, when selecting 'play,' I was greeted with a previous save file from someone named Lizzy. I was unable to delete their save data to start over, despite clicking the 'delete save data' button. In addition, the 'quit' button is non-functioning and I had to manually close the window to exit the game. 2. There is no "game world" like you see in the trailer video. The entire "game" consists of four levels, which essentially teach you to move, rotate, and scale within the viewport. You DO NOT get to roam around as a pigeon in a game world at all. If this changes, I'd be happy to replay and reconsider my review. I'm hoping the devs make significant improvements so that this can really stand up to its full potential.
so I bought the game but i think there's a bug here i cant go to the next level im stuck on level 4 and thats it. There should be more levels right?
Too much wandering freedom for a learning model. Entered a room with no exit, interaction iconology, or objective. Fell through the map after getting lost and there isn't a pause menu so I had to close the window every time I ran into an issue. I have no qualms with early development stuff but the purpose of the game was unobtainable so I'd say don't invest your time on this just yet. :/
its very short, it could use some polish, but its a fantastic concept, gamifying learning enables lots of people to grasp the concepts easier, hope to see much more from this dev
Fantastic idea, but I just can't really properly recommend it. I haven't spent long playing yet, but I can already tell that the quality is certainly not there as of this moment. It is confusing to navigate, plus there is no music or ambiance, just silence as you aimlessly wander and then fall out of the world. I already accessed areas I wasn't supposed to (i just walked around the barriers) which is not something I would give to a beginner since it makes it even more confusing as to what I am supposed to do. Also, I have both my scroll wheel and orbit sensitivities set to max, and they are still painfully slow to zoom or to spin the camera around the subject. I do not know why. Listen, I love the concept a lot. The marketing really got me when I saw it on Instagram since I really want to get better at Blender. Unfortunately the actual game is not nearly as polished as the advertisement, and feels very clunky to use at the moment. If the game can get to a state where it matches the advertised play, then that would be absolutely perfect. I hope that, with time, it will get there, but right now, I would not recommend it.
