3 days: Zoo Mystery

An old school HOG that was originally released in 2010. pros. ok story. straight forward long game play time (a bit more than 4 hours and 15 minutes) cons. bugs (on the side and on the lower part of the game the mouse courser stay just like the bug used to happen in windows 98 lol) the game is still playable though noticed at least one typo. story = storm. receptive puzzles (they just change the layout and positions) repetitive music. although it is suitable... it kinda gets boring after sometime despite having the display bug i kinda enjoyed it. normally i get bored if the game is that long but i did not. i give it 5/10

Das Spiel hat einige heftige Bugs, die Ladezeiten sind für ein HOG nicht akzeptabel, man kann die Bildschirmauflösung nicht einstellen, es gibt keine deutsche Übersetzung . . . trotzdem gibt es von mir eine positive Bewertung. Ganz einfach weil ich Spaß hatte. Das Spiel ist in 27 Level unterteilt mit Wimmelbildszenen und verschiedenen Puzzles. Es gibt ein Hilfesystem und wenn man ein Puzzle partout nicht lösen kann (beispielsweise weil durch einen Bug Teile eines Puzzles fehlen) kann man stattdessen eine Wimmelbildszene spielen. Die Story wird durch Gespräche mit diversen Personen und gelegentliche Comicsequenzen erzählt. Tiere sind aus dem Zoo des Onkels der Protagonistin verschwunden und wir müssen den Fall dringend lösen, um den Zoo vor einer Schließung zu bewahren. Wie gesagt, ich hatte Spaß, würde das Spiel aber trotzdem nicht unbedingt empfehlen. Das sind leider einfach zuviele Bugs. Für eingefleischte HOG Fans und im Sale kann man es sich gönnen.

I have 2 news for you, good one and bad one: it works for Linux with Steam Play feature it works too much the same as with Windows OSes and inherits same cursor bug thus makes game barely playable. putting proton prefix to winxp compatibility does nothing and proton has removed support for anything older than winxp (wine still have win98/95/3.1) so it does not help to emulate old environment for this game if it needs it (and judging by its system specs it might be win98 work or close). avoid this game unless you have clear idea how to make it work on your system. and while you're reading and writing reviews please make sure you're aware of latest change to user reviews regarding EULA, DRM and "Review Bombing" https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1808664240333155775

Very nice idea - BUT impossible to play. There is a major problem with the refresh so you have huge stack of pointer arrows and anything getting in the way. I mini games look interesting, but by about the 5th - again a refresh problem and impossible to see what is on the screen. Pity. Looks like a good childrens game - possibly.

Ok, I am not yet done with the game but I am also not sure if I am gong to play it further. There are many disturbing things if you play zoo mystery. First of all, the quality. If you remember the system Windoes 98, you could have an idea of how it is like playing this game. If you click a object it often happens that you have it now everywhere, where your curser goes. All around on your screen. So now try to find a second object in a HOG when you can´t see it anymore. Unfortunately this isn´t the only problem. You have puzzles to solve where pieces are missing, so you can´t do them and have to go over them. Not even the story is pretty good. Your uncle has a zoo and some animals get stolen (you just get to know one). You shall now find out, who it was. Sounds not so bad. But honestly, it starts with someone who takes an elephant and walks out of the zoo with it and no one recognizes. Oh my god, how could this happen! I am sorry, but this is how the story goes on and this is why I really can´t recommend this game.
