109 Remastered

Cool concept, bad execution. The controls are clunky, the scan probe results disappear after a few seconds, the probe itself is hard to aim/control, and worst of all, the ship is equipped with a weapon but it can't be used to destroy the mines that are scattered all over the field. This game feels like it hates its players and is doing everything it can to make them miserable. That's just how the gameplay is. The actual environment and premise were cool, which is why the game caught my eye. It's just that games need to be playable for you to play them. UPDATE: But the game was atmospheric and memorable. I'll switch this review to recommended and try again later. Surely the developer wouldn't have released a game in an unplayable state. Maybe I just need to git gud.

While it sounds cool, what you'll actually be doing is wandering around completely lost looking for small items that don't even appear on the in-game scanner, and which may or may not actually finish the game. The wreckages look cool for all of 5 minutes, which is how long it takes to realise that there's nothing to do here, and trust me, the story isn't worth it. The depleting oxygen meter adds uneccessary pressure, and the fact you replenish it by shoot oxygen tanks instead of flying into them to collect them like you do with scrap for repairs or satellites to collect chat logs is a completely bizarre game design choice. If this is a remaster and therefore an "improved" version, it'll likely need another four or five remasters on top of this one to get to the point where it's worth recommending.
