Cute hidden picture game. Had to hunt for the last one but love it because there are no hints. Great music and relaxing. I enjoyed it.
This was very poor attempt at a hidden cat game. It just is not rewarding. The cats are literally drawn with a different pen tool to the surroundings, so as long as you are looking in the general direction, you will see it. The only positive are the cute achievement icons.
Pretty quick achievement game. Find all 101 cats on the Taiwan backdrop. Pretty challenging compared to the others due to high density detail.
101 Cats in Taiwan is a relaxing hidden-object puzzle game that turns a very simple concept into a surprisingly enjoyable and calming experience. Built around the familiar formula of searching for hidden cats inside a large illustrated environment, the game succeeds because of its charming artwork, peaceful atmosphere, and carefully crafted Taiwan-inspired setting filled with dense architecture and small visual details. It never attempts to become a complicated puzzle adventure or a mechanically deep experience. Instead, it focuses entirely on delivering a cozy scavenger hunt designed for players who simply want to relax and slowly explore a beautifully drawn cityscape filled with hidden feline surprises. The gameplay is immediately accessible. Players are given a single detailed map and tasked with finding 101 cats hidden throughout the environment. Each discovered cat is clicked to mark progress, gradually lowering the remaining count while encouraging players to search more carefully for the increasingly difficult cats still concealed within the scenery. There are no timers, penalties, combat systems, or stressful mechanics interrupting the process. The simplicity of the design works extremely well because it allows players to focus entirely on observation and exploration without pressure. The Taiwan-inspired environment is easily the strongest aspect of the game. The hand-drawn cityscape is filled with layered buildings, signs, rooftops, decorative details, narrow alleyways, and crowded urban scenery that create the feeling of a lively and visually dense location. The black-and-white art style gives the game a clean and distinctive visual identity while also helping the hidden cats naturally blend into the environment. Every section of the map contains tiny details that reward careful attention, making exploration feel engaging despite the minimal gameplay structure. The hidden cats themselves are placed with a satisfying balance of accessibility and challenge. Some are immediately visible sitting in open spaces or obvious locations, while others are tucked into shadows, blended into decorations, or hidden among the environment in ways that require much closer observation. As players clear the easier cats, the search gradually becomes more demanding, creating rewarding moments whenever a particularly well-hidden cat is finally discovered after several minutes of scanning the scenery. The zoom mechanic plays an important role in keeping the experience comfortable. Since many cats are intentionally very small or hidden inside crowded areas, the ability to magnify sections of the map makes searching much more enjoyable. Without the zoom system, some later cats would likely become frustrating to locate. Instead, the feature helps preserve the game’s relaxing atmosphere even during the more difficult portions of the hunt. Atmosphere is another area where the game performs very well. Soft background music and calming ambient sounds create a peaceful tone that perfectly complements the slower pacing of the gameplay. The soundtrack remains subtle and relaxing throughout the experience, never distracting from the search process or becoming repetitive enough to disrupt immersion. The entire game feels intentionally designed as a stress-free activity for unwinding rather than a competitive or mentally exhausting puzzle challenge. The achievement system also helps maintain engagement throughout the experience. Every discovered cat contributes toward progression milestones and achievement unlocks, creating a steady sense of accomplishment as the map slowly empties. Players who enjoy completion-focused games will likely appreciate the consistent feedback and visible progress tied directly to exploration and observation. The gradual reduction of the remaining cat count becomes surprisingly addictive once the search process settles into a comfortable rhythm. One of the game’s strengths is its pacing. Because the experience is relatively short, the hidden-object gameplay rarely becomes exhausting before completion. Most players can finish the game in a single relaxed session, which helps maintain the novelty of the concept from beginning to end. The developers wisely avoid stretching the mechanics beyond their natural lifespan, allowing the experience to remain enjoyable without unnecessary filler. The Taiwan setting also gives the game more personality than many generic hidden-object titles. The layered urban design and dense visual presentation naturally complement the gameplay because the environment constantly challenges the player’s attention with overlapping structures and decorative clutter. Searching through the city feels rewarding not only because of the cats themselves, but because the environment is filled with artistic details that make the world feel handcrafted and lively. However, the game’s simplicity can also be its biggest limitation. Outside of locating hidden cats, there are very few additional mechanics or surprises. Players looking for deeper puzzle systems, evolving gameplay mechanics, or narrative progression may eventually find the experience too lightweight. The game remains entirely focused on its core hidden-object formula and never attempts to expand beyond that structure. Difficulty balancing can occasionally feel uneven as well. Some cats are hidden cleverly, but others rely more heavily on extreme visual obscurity than rewarding puzzle design. Toward the end of the game, players may find themselves repeatedly scanning the same areas searching for tiny hidden shapes that blend almost perfectly into the scenery. These moments can slightly disrupt the otherwise relaxing tone of the experience. Replay value is also limited once all cats have been discovered. Because the hidden locations remain fixed, much of the challenge and excitement disappear after full completion. Outside of achievement hunting or attempting faster completion times, there is little reason to revisit the map once everything has been found. Fortunately, the short runtime and low price help make this limitation easier to accept because the game clearly positions itself as a brief casual experience rather than a long-term commitment. Despite its modest ambitions, 101 Cats in Taiwan succeeds because it executes its central concept extremely well. It never tries to become more complicated than necessary, instead focusing entirely on creating a relaxing and visually appealing hidden-object experience filled with charming artwork and satisfying moments of discovery. Its confidence in that simplicity allows the game to remain consistently enjoyable throughout its short runtime. What ultimately makes the game memorable is the relaxing rhythm created by slowly uncovering hidden cats inside a detailed and carefully illustrated environment. Every discovery feels rewarding because the game constantly encourages careful observation and curiosity without creating unnecessary pressure or frustration. 101 Cats in Taiwan may not offer deep mechanics or extensive replayability, but its cozy atmosphere, attractive hand-drawn visuals, and satisfying scavenger hunt gameplay make it an enjoyable casual puzzle experience. Its detailed Taiwan-inspired setting and calming design combine to create a short but charming adventure perfect for players looking to relax with a peaceful hidden-object game filled with adorable cats and rewarding exploration. Quick and fun :)
