Before I review this is from where I hail in terms of zombie games movies and comics: Zombie games I like: State of decay: Exploration mixed with Sims and survival and kill zombies. Dayz: Exploration, survival, killing zombies, Resident evil 6: Killing and feeling hunted. Left 4 dead 1-2: Fun but get boring with go from point A to B Survivor squad: Real good indie title with tactical fighting in realtime. Red dead redemption nightmare: Fantastic manuscript and very frightening. The typing of the dead: Awesome learn to write faster and killing zombies at the same time. Dead island: Best gametrailer ever produced and seen, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, to easy and everyone say you shall save them when they can save their sorry asses together instead of forcing you to do it, extremly weak story line. Dead rising: Not even the dead can help this title. Movies & Comics tvshows: Deadset (miniseries), In the flesh, Contracted, The swedish horror book " Walking dead first 4 seasons ( read the comics instead, so much better) , Fido, Zombeavers, Juan of the dead, Shaun of the dead, Braindead ----- Review----- For what its worth: 0,79 euro its a must buy, it also worth 5 euro if that was the price I think since its very fun to play in coop and it has a deepth to its basebuilding and different missions you can play out together. I was really suprised also that it directly works to find each others game on steam with no hassle at all that so many AAA titles struggle with. + Coop + Indepth basebuilding + Cool that you see other players outside the house youre in moving around and the opposite. + several sorts of zombies + Many sorts of missions + Dynamic ai: If youre in a fight with a zombie outside a house sometimes the zombie will instead go into the house and fight with another player that is closer to them, this is so epic and really goes into the spirits of how zombies are. + Cool part that the things you find in skavenge and missions are clientside so you never take stuff from your fellow survivor.re in a fight with a - Utterly ugly so it allmost hurts your eyes, but if you played indie titles on the AMiGA you have no problem with this. - Not many backgrounds in the game.
Here are my first impressions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_nqNyfRqts Holy snap this game is so freaking fantastic, in a weird way it's one of my favourite zombie games. It's shortcomings can and will be a dealbreaker for most though, the resolution it plays at is disgusting and the art style is... Awful. But the game underneath all that is amazing and truly a good zombie survival 2D sidescroller.
this game dev sure make really cool stuff for a 99 cents game this game is a pretty epic zombie horror survival game and i love the art style <3
It is easy to tell the creator did put some time and effort into this game, but had very limited resources. The game is fun and is a great timewaster, but there are some very big problems. The games menus dont have mouse support so the game is clearly designed for a controller however there is no controller support! The character models in my opinion, look very ugly. However, even with those problems the game can be a lot of fun so I would reccomend it. (PS: I have only played about 10 minutes of the steam version, however I did put a few hours into the version on the Xbox.)
Fun AF
pretty fun game tbh, better with friends though
Zombie Town, developed by Chris Antoni and Rob Guenther and published by Chris Antoni, is a compact indie survival game that embraces classic zombie apocalypse tropes through a straightforward, mechanics-driven experience. Released in 2017, the game positions itself as a gritty, low-budget survival adventure focused more on moment-to-moment tension than cinematic storytelling or technical polish. While it does not attempt to compete with large-scale survival epics, it carves out its own identity as a stripped-down, action-oriented take on surviving in a world overtaken by the undead. The premise is familiar yet effective: civilization has collapsed, zombies roam freely, and survival depends on careful resource management and strategic decision-making. Players begin alone, scavenging for food, ammunition, and supplies while navigating hostile environments. Early encounters emphasize vulnerability, forcing players to weigh every confrontation carefully. Ammunition is limited, and melee combat can quickly become overwhelming if poorly timed. The sense of scarcity shapes the entire experience, encouraging caution and reinforcing the fragility of survival. As the game progresses, players gain access to a makeshift base and the possibility of rescuing additional survivors. This shifts the focus slightly from pure wandering survival to structured progression. Building a safer refuge and gathering allies introduces a strategic layer, as players must decide how to allocate resources and which objectives to prioritize. Radio communication and scattered narrative fragments provide a loose story framework, but the true narrative emerges organically through player-driven encounters and hard-earned victories. Narrow escapes and desperate last stands often feel more impactful than scripted events. Combat in Zombie Town is functional and direct. Encounters typically involve managing waves of enemies, positioning carefully, and retreating when necessary. As time passes, stronger zombie variants appear, increasing difficulty and forcing adaptation. While the mechanics are not especially deep, they are consistent and reinforce the survival tone. Combat success often depends more on preparation and resource conservation than reflex-based mastery. The pacing maintains steady pressure without overwhelming players too early, allowing tension to build naturally. Exploration plays a significant role in sustaining engagement. Venturing into new areas offers the promise of valuable loot but carries inherent risks. Deciding when to push deeper into dangerous territory versus returning to safety becomes a recurring dilemma. The environments themselves are relatively simple in design, but they serve their purpose in supporting the gameplay loop. The absence of overly complex crafting or base-building systems keeps the experience accessible, though it may leave some players wanting deeper mechanics. Visually, Zombie Town reflects its indie origins with straightforward, somewhat dated graphics. Character models and environments prioritize function over flair. The aesthetic may feel reminiscent of older arcade or early indie titles, but there is a certain charm in its simplicity. The minimalistic presentation keeps the focus squarely on survival mechanics rather than spectacle. Audio design follows a similar philosophy, offering basic but serviceable effects that reinforce combat and exploration without drawing undue attention. One of the game’s defining traits is its modest scope. Zombie Town does not aim for sprawling open-world complexity or intricate narrative arcs. Instead, it offers a contained survival sandbox that can be experienced in shorter sessions. This brevity works in its favor for players seeking a focused, low-commitment zombie survival experience. However, the limited depth and repetition in enemy encounters may reduce long-term replayability for those expecting expansive systems. Ultimately, Zombie Town stands as a straightforward, indie interpretation of zombie survival. Its strengths lie in its tense resource management, emergent gameplay moments, and accessible mechanics. While it lacks the polish and depth of larger productions, it captures the core thrill of surviving against mounting undead threats. For players who appreciate simple survival challenges and retro-styled indie experiences, Zombie Town delivers a gritty, no-frills journey through a post-apocalyptic landscape where every bullet and decision counts.
