DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH YOUR EYES OR ARE SUSEPTIBLE TO SEIZURES/EPILEPSY. TRUST ME, IT WILL ♥♥♥♥ YOU UP. Other than that though, it's pretty great. Fantastic visuals for those who can view it without dying, good music, and an actual challenge. Probably one of the best, if not the best, shoot 'em up game I know of. 9/10.
the music just rips so hard
Challenging Bullet Hell, Satisfying Visuals, & Great Music. HUD Could Be Better.
Zenzizenzic caught my eye through an [adult swim] commercial some odd years back & has always been a personal favorite to mention to others mostly for the mouthful of a name it has. It's gameplay in my opinion is quite energetic & easy to come back to. A highlight of the game is its small soundtrack that provides a feeling of "quality over quantity." I consider it a fitting & in some ways relaxing atmosphere to the bullet hell wrapped up in visuals of basic shapes shooting shapes. The biggest complaint for the game I have is the in game HUD. It's just as minimalistic as the rest of the game's visuals & for the most part doesn't affect the gameplay. There are times though some important elements become hard to keep up with with the simplicity acting almost as a double edged sword. During moments of intense movement & deep focus, bars representing weapons reserves or stamina are easy to overlook. That same minimal design however make the small breaks in combat an easier breath while not distracting you from what's coming next.
Zenzizenzic (ZC) is another one of those flashy twin-stick colorful space-invaders type game. Fly around and shoot enemies without being shot. Seems simple enough, right? This game's boss battles and lively electronic soundtrack reminded me very much of tachyon project, another such game. So, what set's this one apart is that, unlike Tachyon Project, which is "story driven", ZC had a so-called Macro mode, which is essentially a rogue-like procedureally generated mode, where you advance and kill enemies and bosses. I actually enjoyed this mode way more than the campaign mode, which was frankly very difficult for me. No points off there, though maybe a controller would make for better gameplay (I have only a mouse and keyboard). There may be other games like it, but if it's cheap, I would totally recommend this game, if only because visually it looks so pleasing, and the overall concept is so simple. Overall Score: 8.7/10
DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review
Zenzizenzic is a game developed by bitHuffel and published by Adult Swim Games Overall, you avoid bullet-type enemies whilst listening to some awesome music. The game is well paced and the game isn't too hard to make you rage or anything and is actually quite a fair game. Although the game fills your screen with loads of cool, trippy and weird effect, it's definitely fun! Zenzizenzic is an amazing game that's fun to play in short bursts and the pricing is just right especially during a sale, so I'd definitely recommend playing this game!
