Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse’s brand-new urban fantasy ARPG. Players act as "Proxies" who explore Hollows alongside a wide range of unique Agents, fighting enemies, and completing commissions on their journey to unveil the mysteries behind New Eridu.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

About
Zenless Zone Zero is a brand-new urban fantasy action RPG lovingly crafted by HoYoverse.
In the game, a disaster known as "Hollows" brought modern civilization to its knees. Hollows appear out of the blue, spawning anomalous dimensions crawling with terrifying monsters called "Ethereals."
In the wake of this catastrophic disaster, the last city to survive the apocalypse — New Eridu — used the technology and resources needed to combat the Hollows, overcame countless dangers, and gradually evolved into humanity's final bastion of civilization.
In New Eridu, you'll step into the role of a Proxy — a professional who provides guidance to those who need to venture into the dangerous Hollows for various reasons. You'll embark on adventures with unique characters, exploring Hollows together, battling powerful enemies, completing commissions, and uncovering the secrets hidden within the city.
Zenless Zone Zero delivers smooth and exhilarating combat. Launch your offense with Basic Attacks and Special Attacks, counter enemy strikes through dodges and blocks, then string together flashy combos with Chain Attacks to finish them off. Different enemies have their own specialties and weaknesses — seizing the right opportunity and responding with precision is key to controlling the battle.
Zenless Zone Zero features a striking art style and visual design that stands out. Characters boast incredibly detailed expressions and fluid, dynamic movement, with combat and plot sequences packed with tension. The music pulses with sharp, distinct rhythms, delivering a powerful and impactful audiovisual experience.
In a world plagued by disaster, a new kind of city has emerged — New Eridu. This last oasis has mastered the technology to coexist with Hollows and is home to a whole host of chaotic, boisterous, dangerous, and very active factions. As the key link between the Hollows and the city, the story of the legendary Proxy Phaethon begins to unfold.
Diverse city blocks each boast their own unique vibe, while danger-filled Hollows conceal deadly challenges. Take on commissions, dive into the action, and freely switch between urban errands and combat. Every journey is a brand-new adventure.
Random Play can't run without videotapes, and a Proxy can't do without Agents. In New Eridu, unexpected visitors always come calling. Fates intertwine as a colorful cast of characters takes the stage one by one, weaving together the sprawling story hidden beneath the city's calm surface.

I followed this game ever since a teaser for it came out, and since they were accepting beta testers. I've been called a gooner over it, and I'll be fair - it is indeed a gooner game. On a separate review for another gooner game, I stated that everyone likes their own gacha games, and that a majority of people like Zenless Zone Zero because everything jiggles in all the right places. That is true. If you want to compare it to Genshin Impact, you definitely can. If you want to whale on it, you definitely can as well. Aiming to get 6 copies of Z-Engines, optimal Disc Drives, and 6 copies of characters are a grind - I can't stress this enough. If you came for a challenge, similar to Wuthering Waves, I would say ZZZ is easier. Very realistically, these things are what would make someone turn their back away from it. But, is it a good game to introduce to people wanting to get into gacha/roguelike games? Yes. Is ZZZ based on skill? Partly, you'll have to time things. Your damage is dictated by your build and character. Are you playing them right? Regardless, what I will comment is that ZZZ has been one of the more stylish gachas I have played ever. Zenless Zone Zero has a great story, a friendly community, and a modern art style that couldn't be anymore appealing. As an internal, personal request when the beta was finished, I felt that they needed to focus more on the music, and after doing so, I couldn't be happier. The developers know their audience, and from watching so many character demos, they are great at marketing the characters themselves. Astra Yao, Ellen Joe, and Lycaon's have been my absolute favorites - not because they are a stereotype, but because the artists themselves go ALL out with the theme the character's themselves are supposed to represent. They also design their characters in a way that encourages you to look for details; looking under the eye or clavicle for moles, or wearing certain clothing to emphasize a physical part of the character. They want you to ask questions. Why is he wearing an eyepatch? Why do they have pointy teeth like a shark? Behind what makes an art style so lovely, and a cast of unique characters all the more better - their cutscenes, their gameplay, and the single press of a button expresses impact. When they swing, the motion feels like there is force to it. It is so clear that their movements have the intention to kill, and not hold back against their enemies. The deeper you get into the game, you'll find that the enemies will also start doing the same. Now, while the swaying and jiggling is so exaggerated, I think it is fun for it to be as such. I've been a day one supporter, and even after dropping it for a bit as it gradually grew, just for me to come back to it later - the game still has the same feelings I had when I first played it. With every perfect dodge and perfect counter, there is flow. It can be mindless if you'd like it to be. The only improvement I can see being implemented or recommended would be to include that same display of impact in character abilities and movements, within dialogue. Each character already has their unique playstyles. Why not make them say something wild before/during a fight or as they are about to hit someone to the moon? Zenless Zone Zero has always been worth trying. Especially now that it is on Steam, and since they've made it clear they'd like to pave their own path in F2P games. It rivals NIKKE in story and character designs too, but it's unfair to compare them. NIKKE is more unhinged anyways.
pretty fun, 8.5/10 combat
