Pros: F2P is alright. It's not great, you'll find your ability to make pet decks or do FOMO is limited. But you can easily make a competitive deck and some casual decks. They do give you a LOT of free gems in the beginning, which sucks because you may not really know what to use them for. Another pro is the effects are pretty nice. Cons: There is a heavy focus on professional play. The solo modes are very weak and have very little replay value. Neither casual nor solo modes give you credit with the exception of the "duel 3 times in solo mode" because that's . The special events aren't bad in theory, but in practice again it's professional play focuses so there will usually be a meta deck or 2 that just runs rampant over anything else. They do give some loaners, but the loaners are often lacking much needed support. tl;dr: bery big focus on ranked play Another con is that a lot of games are best of one. So you are definitely subject to the mercy of RNGeesus on getting a good starting hand, going first, etc. Honestly it makes actual games where you both feel on equal footing and are having fun few and far between. Last con is that there is a HUGE learning curve and unintuitive gameplay. Unless you know the decks being played and what their typical combo lines, it's pretty impossible to know what your opponent wants to do. It's not like, say, Settlers of Catan where you can see the player going for longest road, the player trying to get wood, etc. For example, one extra deck card is called Dark Magician of Destruction, and he is just in the extra deck waiting to come out at any time as long as the player controls a level 6 or higher spellcaster + activated a spell card. So you need to keep that in mind when up against Diabelstar, Shining Sarcophagus, or really any deck that has a lvl 6 or above spellcaster that's easy to bring out. Another example is playing the hand trap Nibiru by not summoning 5 or more times in one turn. So you need to know which decks Nibiru works well with and which probably won't be there. So truth be told I can't really recommend the game unless you're very familiar with yugioh or really want that nostalgia.

Got hit by nostalgia for yugioh saw the game was free. Had fun playing solo. So far so good then i made the mistake of trying to play pvp... Play meta decks or go home, otherwise this game turns into: press duel, duel starts and you lose.
1/10 I have played yu-gi-oh since anime release with 168 hours in this game. I loved the strategies and complexity to the game, but this is by fart the worst format that exists due to the poorly managed ban list. allowing the same broken mechanics/ first turn lockdowns. what required skill does not in this format as it comes down to whomever wins the coin toss simple as that, forcing you to play 1 of the top five decks but taking away from the fun of diverse build/ decks. also I have duplicates up to 12 of cards I never use but cant recycle for cards id rather have and or would keep me invested in the game. so the economy BROKEN, the banlist UNREALISTIC, NON-EXISTANT format aside from ranked, casual= ranked without rankings, and the 1-2 events a month that do nothing to increase the vibes of the game and the over all game design as it exists now makes it a bore to play forcing you to play 1 of five decks going against 1 of those same five deck. they need to add more options to play day to day just for fun limiting the broking mechanics and forcing more imagination in deck building rather than this repetative boring cycle forcing you to spend money on packs just to keep up with the meta limiting you to again 1-5 decks if you wish to push/ grind the slog that is the ranked. this game was fun at first but years of the same format with no real change to the gaming atmoshpere leaves me and others iam sure bored or livid every other match because the coin flip and poorly managed ban list decides the winner not the skill or imagination of the player and there deck they would enjoy playing. only thing keeping it alive is the fact that it is the only online somewhat normal version playable across all devices. better to just play OCG or TCG or as iam doing break out the old yu-gi-oh game classics to have fun as this game should be delivering but it suck the fun with bad pack pulls forcing high spending, or the poor banlist, and or the lack of creativity for opening more game modes to every day access. 1/10
SPENDING LITERALLY 10 MINUTES WATCHING SOME GUY PLAY HIS WHOLE DECK AT THE START OF A MATCH THIS CARD GAME IS RIDICULOUSLY BORING NOW
omoshiroi
Felt completely hollow. It relies on a super dry, repetitive cycle that grows incredibly boring before you even hit your stride.
先行でないとほぼ勝てないゲームなのに先攻後攻がランダムのため偏ると20回連続で後攻になる場合がある。ゲームとして破綻しており人に勧められる点はない。
When this game is good, it's pretty fun. But when it's bad, it's really bad. The game is really not beginner friendly. And with the only way to get the in game currency, (That I know of, and that's not just spending IRL money), to get new card being to play Ranked, and most people in Ranked having decks that end the game turn 1, it's really difficult to actually make a good deck. And 90% of the time, you'll play against people with decks like that. It has gotten to the point where it's much more fun to play the solo mode than against actual people. But because solo mode rarely gives you the in game currency, you are forced to gamble away your time, hoping you fight against someone with a deck that doesn't end the game turn 1. And it's not as if the game is always like that, but it's rarely not like that. I've done dozens of battles at this point, and maybe 3 of them have been against people at around my skill level. And when that does happen, the game is really fun. But again, that almost never happens. And having to wait for what feels like entire minutes for your opponent to summon a card or two that wins them the game in the first turn is tiring. I wish I could recommend this game, but I can't look past all of that.
The format is almost always awful and Konami fails to address anything. Recently the gems have also started getting cut making the f2p experience worse.
