It took me quite a while to fully grasp the rules of this game, but it's actually fun to play.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links – The Mobile Card Game That Grew With Me
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

First Impressions / Background
I recently started playing Duel Links again. I originally started around 2017–2018, shortly after release, and it quickly became my favorite game back then—especially during school. Watching the meta evolve over the years has been fascinating. Early Duel Links was much simpler, with cards like Hane-Hane or Kuriboh seeing regular play, but even then it perfectly captured the essence of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links condenses the card game into a faster format with fewer Monster & Spell/Trap Zones, while still offering plenty of strategic depth. Over the years it has continued to grow, covering multiple Yu-Gi-Oh! eras and even introducing Rush Duels with their own unique rules.

Gameplay / Mechanics
The game is never really "finished." Instead, it constantly evolves with new cards, characters, worlds, and events. My personal goal was to unlock every Steam achievement, which I finally completed on 23.01.2026. The biggest strengths of Duel Links are:

Collecting cards and building unique decks.
Experimenting with different archetypes and strategies.
Character Skills that completely change how decks are played.
Regular events that reward new cards, characters, and cosmetics.
The Skill system deserves special mention. Some Skills are incredibly powerful and can completely change the outcome of a duel, allowing you to search cards, summon monsters more easily, or access powerful combos that would normally be impossible. Sometimes it genuinely feels like you're cheating... But everyone has access to Skills, making them an important part of Duel Links' identity. The game certainly has plenty of pay-to-win elements. However, they never really bothered me because my focus has always been collecting cards, building creative decks, and experimenting—not competing at the highest PvP level.

Progression / Grinding
There is no traditional endgame. Instead, progression comes from:

Unlocking every character.
Maxing character levels.
Collecting more cards.
Completing achievements.
Climbing the PvP ladder.
Reaching King of Games.
The grind is definitely significant. Thankfully, you can earn Gems through events, missions, character levels, daily rewards, and achievements, allowing free-to-play players to gradually build strong decks without spending money. Of course, buying packs is still the faster option.

Atmosphere / Presentation
Presentation is one of Duel Links' strongest qualities. The duel animations are clean, colorful, and satisfying without slowing down gameplay. The character voice acting adds a lot of personality, especially for fans of the anime. The soundtrack is honestly one of my favorite parts of the game. Many tracks perfectly capture the feeling of classic Yu-Gi-Oh!, making important duels feel genuinely epic. Favorite OST: "Power of Friendship"

Problems
Duel Links is far from perfect. Some of the biggest issues are:

Heavy grinding.
Noticeable pay-to-win mechanics.
Occasionally frustrating PvP metas.
Konami often reuses the same event formats with only minor changes.
The repeated events are probably my biggest criticism. After several years, many of them start feeling extremely familiar.

Conclusion / Personal Take
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is nostalgic, addictive, and incredibly rewarding if you enjoy collecting cards and experimenting with different decks. Despite the grind, monetization, and repetitive events, it remains one of the best digital Yu-Gi-Oh! experiences available. Completing every Steam achievement only made me appreciate how much content the game has accumulated over the years. If you love Yu-Gi-Oh!, collecting cards, or creating unique decks, this is absolutely worth playing. Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) A deep, rewarding, and constantly evolving card game that perfectly captures the spirit of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Grindy at times, but an easy recommendation for fans of the franchise.
great
bom
Perdi totalmente a vontade.
