Yearning: A Gay Story

If you have enjoyed gay visual novels in past this game is incredibly solid for being a free game. The artwork is decent quality and the writing is overall solid even if a little on the long side. Only real detraction from the game was the collectibles system as it really had no place in the game.

A wonderful visual novel about the highs and lows of college life from the perspective of a gay man that has yet to come out at the beginning of the game. The story weaves together college events, friendships, potential dating opportunities, and different moments of life. I found myself immediately immersed into the YAGS universe and felt a connection to multiple characters in the game. The game felt very real while playing it. The world and characters change in response to your decisions while still maintaining personal integrity. Multiple times I found myself reflecting on my actions and how they benefited or otherwise hurt the characters. One part especially and I appreciated the seriousness of the game at times as it showcased some vulnerable moments in big parts of people's lives. You can tell that this game was made with love and with careful deliberation for a strong memorable experience. Personally, I spent most of my first playthrough hanging out with Adam and Carlos. The play-through was a good amount of time and I am satisfied upon completion. There are multiple endings available, plenty of collectables, and good quality-of-life with the features that would make jumping in for another round easy to do. Looking forward to trying out the other games! Recommended!

It has potential but it is WAY to full of just text, id almost rather read a book. IMO it needs way more action, not to mention options. It does not fork off in other directions very often and feels like you are not even interacting, much. You have a bunch of guys you dont even know are gay or not, which turn out not to be and then your main char you are near to the most is straight as a preachers cloth that doesnt touch his alter boys. yeah, that straight. So what is the point of this gay game, altho it was the ONLY one i didnt delete in the 1st 5 mins...or less... I still have it hoping it will amount to something but am not opening it as i fear my hopes have more promise than finding out. I will give this from Zero to a (10) FULL Negan Sized Sack: -3 That means you be shooting dust, or an unending supply of kidney stones and a sack so floppy it looks like it does not have a nut to save a squirrels life. It is only not minus FULL flatline (-10) as its not as bad as the rest of the gay games out there.....BOOOOO to all gay game makers!!!
