Can money buy everything?

Pros
The Kiwami version of an entry in the series that everyone loves and probably dislikes at the same time, which lost part of its soul in the re-release... But didn't get worse. It's just new-school Yakuza rather than old-school. The storytelling was changed to improve the pacing, making the segment focused on the development of relationships with each child at the orphanage optional, which was a great decision (those who play the original on Legend will understand). Overall, the world itself has improved, and you can see a huge number of QoL improvements from the Kiwami games. The engine allows for beautiful visuals, and surprisingly, this entry has the best combat system for Kiryu at the time of writing this review, perhaps even comparable to the old one in some ways, although it still lacks the same depth in certain areas. But the Dragon of Dojima style has evolved for the first time in many years, which was a real surprise, and that's without even mentioning the addition of a new weapon-based style. Gangs, new activities, everything is woven into the narrative really well, just like in the other entries in the series. Nothing feels disconnected, and it adds great variety to the gameplay. Substories have been cut from 100+ to 30. This is probably the right decision: 2/3 of the original's substories were forgettable, and they essentially kept the most interesting ones with new ones.
Mixed
One mixed point is the final post-credits scene, which shattered the overall picture of the series and may have changed its direction too much. Whether that's good or bad, we'll find out in Kiwami 4 and 5, if they happen. The decision isn't exactly unexpected, considering who we can meet in 7 and 8, but it's still unclear. It's hard to call this a definite con, considering that it's still difficult to judge its impact on the series. Apart from this moment, the entire story is taken from the original, which raises no questions until the end of the game. And the loss of battle lines form bosses, I don't know, that's more of a neutral point than a definite con, but it's a very strange decision. You seem to be doing everything really well, but for some reason you cut such a seemingly basic part. I don't know whether the issue was technical, but there doesn't seem to be any other explanation for this loss.
Cons
Surprisingly, one of the cons is one of the series' greatest strengths: the music. The remixes of the original tracks are very puzzling, and each track seems to lose the meaning it was originally given. You probably won't feel this way if you haven't played the original, but it feels like they should have kept the original tracks. Even the new fly has become too aggressive, probably like all the tracks in the game, which perhaps wasn't the right thing to do. From Joji to Juan if you understand what it's mean.
Ratings

Gameplay: 9/10
Story and storytelling: 9/10 (7/10 if you take the post-credits scene into account)
Graphics and visual design: 9/10
Audio: 3/10 (7 if you haven't played the original)
Technical state: 10/10

Dark Ties
A great expansion that explores Mine's story and how he became who he is. Certain moments raise a few questions, but they don't spoil the overall picture. The music is excellent, as if it were made by different people, since Kiwami 3 has problems in that part. The overall rating for the game also applies to this expansion.
Final
The game is definitely worth checking out for fans or newcomers who want to play the third entry but are put off by the old engine and the combat of the legendary Blockuza. The entire game is practically flawless up until the ending, apart from the music, and that counts for a lot. And there's also the chance to learn Mine's story. If you want to play Yakuza and remember plot, it’s better not to read other people’s opinions but to form your own. It's not bad, I like seeing Okinawa in better graphics but the original is so much better and they removed like half the things that made Yakuza 3 good (Kinda). They removed EVERYTHING to do with Komaki, they removed Revelations along with Mack and they absolutely retconned the end of the story so if you play Kiwami 3 instead of Og Yakuza 3 you won't understand Yakuza 4 with Saejima and Kiryu's part of the story :/
*This review will contain spoilers* Yakuza / Like A Dragon is my favourite franchise of all time and always will be. Kiryu is hands down the absolute BEST protagonist IMO and i will love him forever. I was extremely happy when Kiwami 3 was announced and couldn't be more excited. So imagine my disappointment now not because the game let me down, but because of the negative reviews, which are completely undeserving and you can't convince me otherwise. And for what? Because of the voice actor and face model of Hamazaki? I'm really not interested in the drama around him, obviously the guy is not a saint, but also can we move on already? I have zero intention of pretending i don't like a game from my favourite franchise because of a voice actor. And speaking of voice actors (only the Japanese ones, i would never in million years play Yakuza in English) - the new one for Rikiya did a wonderful job and i think i even liked him better. And also, for me at least his death was more impactful (not that i didn't cry my eyes out the first time around). Adding the scene with Rikiya being able to finish his tattoo was amazing, it added more layers to his character. Dark Ties and playing with Mine was everything i didn't know i needed. This was probably the best decision they could've made, at least IMO and i'm so glad. When i played the original Yakuza 3 i was completely indifferent towards him and i see now that we basically knew nothing about him or his motives. This time i loved him pretty much instantly. Yes, i can't completely justify his actions, but also now i can finally understand him. And that makes him a much more interesting and complex character. The only thing i kinda hated was not that he survived (oh no, i'm actually super happy about it) but the way it happened. Either way that's not a deal breaker for me, apparently another unpopular opinion... A lot of people seem to forget that this is what the Yakuza games do. Anderson is alive in Infinite Wealth as a bartender, Kashiwagi is alive as a bartender - nobody bats an eye. But Mine surviving - how dare he! As for gameplay - Mine had an awesome fighting style, loved Hell's arena (even though it got me sweating at times), the substories (the good deeds) were super fun. They even managed to make Kanda funny for a while ffs , regardless of me hating his guts even more after Dark Ties. And lastly - playing again with Kiryu is always a pleasure, my love for him is endless and he deserves the world. The new scenes and activities with the children are perfect, loved every second and i also cried a lot. Kiryu becoming the father of each of these kids was incredible and so touching. Also again, his voice actor (the one and only Takaya Kuroda) did a phenomenal job as usual. Actually all the voice actors, mostly from the main cast were outstanding - Kiryu, Mine, Majima, Rikiya, Daigo - loved all of them. I can go on and on but i'll bore you (even more, i'm sure) . In short - YES, i absolutely recommend playing Yakuza Kiwami 3, i had a blast and i can't wait for the next one. I hope RGG knows that some of us a least loved this game to bits, despite its minor (and in my opinion insignificant) flaws. 10/10 - I will ALWAYS love Yakuza / Like a Dragon!
WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ DID YOU REPLACE HAMAZAKI'S ACTOR WITH A DIFFERENT PEDOPHILE
Wow what massive let down. I really tried to like this game since yakuza is my favourite franchise, but this one is just not it. For the PROS: graphics is better than the og (ofcourse), you can customize your looks, the dark ties expansion is better than i thought (atleast better than the majima in yk2), you can actually interact with your kids in morning glory which is pretty fun (felt more alive and like a dad). more fights available through out the city. bowling For the CONS: they cut al lot of stuff from the original, they changed some of the faces for no reason (and one of em is accused of S.A), they added a new fighting style that are only useful in only 2 situations, the main style feels weird (like theyre trying so hard to be different and failed), so much forced side content to do before progressing to the main game it genuinely burn me out (it felt like a lazy way to extend the main story length), the dynamic intro is the weakest in the series (except the final boos), the boss fight system in general is weird and the ending is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. Overall im super dissapointed with how this game is. I just wish they put more effort and making things that are criticized the better instead of adding unnecessary changes and useless stuff. Its a 3.5/10 but i added a few mods that improves this game's flaw. but even then its still 5/10 at best
Good example of lazy remake. Full of past games' features, yet they even cut out so many things. It feels like I am playing past games with yakuza 3 skins.
This game removed a lot from what the original did
