XCOM® 2

I want to love this game. And it's generally good but I just can't do with the fact that you can shoot through walls in a strategy game. I just can't do it. If you don't care about that, enjoy the game.

My favorite game of all time! Last run was 2021 when I beat the game on Commander difficulty. Now in 2026, I am back to try again -- after playing (and loving) SW ZCOM.

I finally got to play Xcom 2 and short answer yes, I would recommend the game but with a few caveats. Firstly playing on a base M1 macbook pro with crossover 26.3 has some issues. (My crossover settings finishing the game were D3D Metal, MSync turned on, with a few Direct X C++ stuff installed). - First I had to do a lot of trouble shooting which I am not sure I would have been able to do without the help of ChatGPT. - The only way the game runs is on war of the chosen so you will need the DLC. - I had to run everything on low. - After booting the game once, let the 2k launcher wig out your mac for a bit then exit the game, boot the game up and then it runs. - Initially the game ran well but as the campaign progressed the game became laggy - rebooting the game helped. - Sometimes I could only play one combat mission with the second combat mission too laggy, that it would force a crash and sometimes the sound that played before a mission began (the "press any key" green button) the game would lag and crash. This was annoying if you saved before a mission then it crashed, it could lead to 3-4 more crashes before actually getting to play the mission :(. I found the best fix to this was making sure there was a bit of scanning time before the mission and prepping the soldiers ahead of time making this problem mostly avoidable. - If it started to lag during a mission, it was best to just save and restart from that point, maing the game run smooth again. I had fun playing X-com 2 as I had been waiting to play it for almost 10 years (breaking my foot and not being able to work finally got me to play it). However, if your hardware is limited and you're not as keen to get the game to work as I was, this might not be for you.

This might be my favorite game of all time. The base game play is solid and the natural story telling moments that arise with unique soldiers and perma-death suck you in, but the sheer volume of amazing Mods, in particular the long war of the chosen, make this game so re-playable that it ends up being my most played game every year or two because I go back with more mods and start a new campaign. Just an excellent all around game.

An excellent, excellent turn-based strategy game. Highly recommended to anyone who is curious, loved the first Xcom, this one is just as fun, if a bit different. Difficult and unfair at times, sure - but love the scenarios, maps and monsters. I mean, this game may case you to cross your fingers and hold your breath on a 95% chance shot. Also, if I may - don't waste your ammo on psychically reanimated corpses.

A game you can tailor to how you like through the many mods and modders with a major development in the proces.this game could have grown like warhammer. thank you to the many modders who keep this so intresting.PS GAMES WORKSHOP this could be evolved to be the space marines origin game(series)
