Amazing and engaging, multi-layered strategies and time to think about your next move. Then add in the Unreal graphics engine. Worth it.
Xcom 2 is fun. I really enjoyed the base game and it takes what Enemy Within had and added some new interesting twists. But the War Of The Chosen DLC campaign and additions is just too much. Soldiers can become tired they can acquire negative traits, they can grow bonds and much more. It would be cool, but all of it genuinely starts to take away from the core of the game. It feels like it’s trying to make me spend more time managing my units rather than resource or the tactical warfare. The soldiers being wounded and shaken was already just fine though it could’ve been given minor additions to make it a little bit more interesting the focus of the game was resource management and tactical warfare. The addition of a personal combat Sims already seemed like a pretty good addition that allowed you to strengthen your favorite units. The events were also pretty cool, but War Of The Chosen expanded on them so much that every month there’s an overwhelming amount of events and plausible operations that you can do that is too much. I’m supposed to keep track of what the chosen are doing but also the Advent events that were already in the game not to mention good options I can choose and unlock for myself as well as operations that I can commit soldiers to for different groups and more I’m not mentioning. The new classes are fun and interesting, but for no reason in particular work different and level up fairly differently from all other classes. The Levels and objectives added with the DLC are cool but once again suffer from a mild case of over complication. I do like the extra layers to many of the objectives, but there was also just nothing wrong with the more simple operations. In my mind, this is actually not that bad and most of them are pretty enjoyable. Xcom 2 added some awesome and interesting systems and the core the game was same but made gameplay fresh and interesting. War Of The Chosen expands so much on the events, the soldiers and the different sub groups that it subtracts from the rest of the game. If there were ever to be an Xcom 3 I would not want it to be so unnecessarily complicated and diluted.
Very high quality strategy game. You will curse RNGsus if you play though.
If you miss 90 percent of hit shot, just know you just got xcom
Absolute legendary game, been playing different versions of it since the 1990s when I was in highschool. Really hope they keep making this game, as it's the only game I enjoy playing in my older years.
I've loved this game for so long :)
