While this is a very fun game... there are never any people online, maybe because im european and most of the players are american? but idk

"X8" is a dead VR exclusive "hero shooter", once a paid product, then given away almost for free, but with disgustingly priced DLC (it's pretty clear the developer's VR headset was faulty and only showed dollar signs to them). There's only 1-2 people logging on each day, and there's no notable single player content. This is a dead game. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. On top of that, there's an utterly disgusting FIFTY UNITED STATES DOLLARS price tag on a handful of crappy weapon skins. This kind of thing is utterly offensive. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developers breach of Valve guidelines tells us this is not "Dead", it's just "Pining for the Fjords". This is a Meta/Facebook game. No wonder Steam gamers treated this like cancer and avoided it like the plague. No wonder it's dead. SteamDB figures don't lie. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
very cool except sometimes kids can be annoying !
Bon jeu en vrai c'est pas mal
Feels almost familiar... Kinda like valorant. idk what gave me that idea
Valorant in VR. That's all i need to know.
I don't really play this version of the game. The standalone is great and I prefer because my PC is quite trash. I was looking for something new when looking for this game and found something really close to Valorant, which is one of my most played games right now. I like that it is something fresh but with a similar base from my favorite game.
(Quest 3) My first hour impression of this game is spectacularly awful. The tutorial was fine and well-made, but then it all fell apart. I was wondering why my vision randomly kept bouncing while I was playing. I figured it was a glitch. Nope. It happens for seated players, and after the tutorial it turns into your character crouching every 5-10 seconds for no reason even while you're still seated, which slows you down considerably. After about 15 minutes of "Height calibration" and "Crouch/sprint threshhold", I gave up and joined freeplay. Queue popped, ready to go... then nothing. What happened? Oh well, let's try again - queue up, but the window disappears immediately and I'm left with a 20-ish second countdown before I can queue again. WTF? Queue again, queue screen disappears after 1 second again, cooldown starts. Ok, let's restart the game. After closing the game and restarting, it finally worked, and I finally joined a lobby - with 0 people. Looking around, there's a corner full of "No longer available" items to purchase. Super helpful. Also the "Contra" section of the freeplay lobby makes you realize the whole thing is a trap - it's not actually free, you have to pay for it. I walk around the lobby for a little while longer, still "crouching" occasionally for no reason, which still slows me down. A few 12-year-olds join my lobby and start screaming. Aaaaand I'm done. Recommendation: Avoid.
