I’m totally hooked on this game, the concept, art design, visuals, atmosphere and sound design all hit so different and feel super polished. But I really think the devs need to fix the replayability issue. Right now the gameplay loop is way too thin, it’s super weapon-reliant, and once you beat the map there’s zero reason to come back. It’s probably just an early access kink, I’ll swing back and update my review once the full game launches.
A fantastic gameplay loop backed by satisfying mechanics and the Pope.
Saw this when it first went into EA, watched a few reviews, and decided it's a pass for me. Didn't look bad for any particular reason, just not really my thing. Then yesterday I stumbled across a "Why am I addicted" review from a youtuber named, "The Loot Stash," It's rare for me to reverse a pass based on genre, but I did this time. I unluckily stumbled into a soft lock on my first play-through, which Gemini AI advised me was fatal, and I needed to restart a new character. Got into the main loop properly. The game is by no means perfect--it's definitely still an EA title-- but I gotta say, I'm starting to see what the hook is. It's got a super strong progression loop that I'm actually excited to start exploring deeper. Glad I went against my initial gut feeling on this one. I'd say I can't wait to see what v1.0 brings, but I can wait -- because I've got a ton of stuff to explore in this current EA release to keep me plenty busy until whenever 1.0 happens..
TLDR: It's like if Destiny 2 and Dark Souls had a reeeeeal sexy time on a bed of extraction shooter genre mechanics while some heavy metal music raged in the background. I played this game when it first got to early access and loved the concept, the gameplay was stable, but it was the beginning of an idea. I just came back to the game, and am blown away. The content, the systems and mechanics, the refinement, the vibe is just a wonderful love letter to FPS gamers.
재밌음 어느정도 클때까지 그라시스 막올리면 난이도 빡새져서 힘드니 좀 노가다가 필요함
I dont know what to say...good graphics, good movement and shooting but its a crap in some things,,,when we die,we lost many things, and the travel portals always send us back...what the hell...and we cant save the game too...
Describing Witchfire as Dark Souls with guns meets extraction shooter gameplay would not be inaccurate, in fact I imagine that's what the developer was aiming for us to describe it as. But it nevertheless doesn't feel nearly as derivative as most "souls-like" attempts have been since the eponymous cult classic dropped. Aesthetically, I can't help but feel like Witchfire draws some of its cues from Warhammer 40k, at least in terms of its weapon design. This is a decision I wholeheartedly support, and playing this game has made me coin the term "Arcanepunk" to try and describe it, although "warhammer-core" (or an existing term I'm unaware of) would work as well. The gunplay, on the other hand, sort of reminds me of Doom 2016, in that weapons are punchy, satisfying, and appropriately turn demonic denizens into gulash. There's a lot to love about this game, and if the single player, relatively laid-back pace of this extraction shooter is what you're looking for, you'll probably have a grand and seamless time getting lost in the sauce of a surprisingly fun gameplay loop. I always find myself wondering "how many more ways can you make shoot gun fun?" well, this is one of them, and it is fun. I can't help but feel like the game might benefit from the inclusion of a dark souls esque multiplayer system, being such a proprietary gameplay design of FS that even souls like games haven't replicated, I think this would be the appropriate gameplay environment to test the invasion/summon multiplayer mechanic in a different medium. Regardless, though, I can easily recommend this and hope the full release brings the developer team some much-deserved success.
Witchfire is a really smooth and fun game with plenty of customization and a lot to do. There are also some nice secrets and hidden things to discover as you explore. It took me around 30 hours without trying to do absolutely everything, which feels like a great length for a game like this. And with the amount of customization, different builds, and things to experiment with, the replayability is excellent. Overall, a very satisfying experience with a great gameplay loop. Definitely worth playing.
Muy bueno! Siempre quise trabajar en el Vaticano.
