I don't know how is this game free?! This game is massive and packed with so much stuff to do that it can provide you with hundreds of hours of entertainment for free. You are never really forced to spend any money. And the things you can buy with real money are just skins and such which are completely optional. Want to play this game as a mmorpg? You can there is a multiplayer mode. Want to play it coop with friends? You can do that as well Want to play it solo as an action adventure game? Yes you can do it, I think that is the main way to play the game. There are so many things to do in the game. Want to build your base like in sims? You can Want to roam the beautiful world with great graphics pet cats and dogs, heal ducks and other goofy stuff? You can Want to fight mobs in the open world as well as world bosses? You can Want to play pvp in arena in 1v1 or 3v3? You can Want to play pve with other people against a boss? You can Want to play a battle royale style game mode? You can I am like 60 hours in and am close to finishing exploration of the first main area and I think I have explored only like 20% of the world and interracted with like 30% of mechanics. The main complaint from people is the very complicated menu sistem which I agree with. Menus upon menus upon menus, but with so much stuff in the game can you blame them? I honestly have no idea what would be a better aproach to pack all of the stuff and not be overwhelmed by the menus. After 60 hours I still have a hard time sometimes finding the menu that I am looking for. Other complaints are that the game is not polished, and sure with so much content some is bound to be a mess, but since the game is free and does not force you to spend any money I feel like I have no right to expect everything to be perfect. There is a gambling system in the shop and for some stuff that you need to upgrade your skills. Like for example to obtain some scrolls to upgrade one part of your skills you need to open chests (that you get as a reward for fighting bosses or outposts) that give you a random scroll. But you will be couple of hundreds of hours into the game before that becomes an issue. People complain about the endgame being non existent, and sure I guess that can be true (I am not even close to that), but I am just enjoying the game as it is and if I get bored of it at some point I will just stop playing as it is free and I won't feel like I wasted money on a game I don't like. You can also customize your experience with difficulty options, turning on/off parrying assist, choosing if the game will tell you everything you need to do or if you like to be the one to figure it out you can turn off those things in UI. Overall I think you should give this game a try, nothing to lose really, except time I guess, but if it looks interesting to you give it a try you will probably find something that you enjoy in the game.
Drunken fist and dual blades should feel like two unrelated ideas, but the switch between them is the best part. The fist work looks loose and off balance, then the blades snap the rhythm into something fast and direct. I spent most of the first hour watching the animation instead of the enemy, which is not a recommended defensive strategy. Once the inputs started making sense, the style felt less like random flailing and more like setting up a sudden burst at close range. My successful clips look like a martial arts film. The failed ones look like the tavern closed too late.
This is already the peak of modern wuxia games, but it is still nowhere near the theoretical masterpiece it could become. The ultimate wuxia game would be: the storytelling and choices of The Matchless Kungfu: Wuxia + the combat depth of The Legend of Silk Road: Butterfly Sword + NetEase’s resources + a truly skilled studio + a pure single-player experience + a “less is more” design philosophy + a living wuxia world where grudges, friendships, honor, and revenge actually matter. That combination would be an absolute game changer.
