What Remains of Edith Finch

I actually played this a few years back but I still remember it so well. Such a beautiful game and so incredibly creative. I'm a sucker for some creative, thought-provoking visuals, which is exactly what this gives you. Every story leaves you with a deep sense of understanding and heartbreak, but it is so gorgeous and one of the most emotional games I have ever played. It took me about 2-3 hours to complete, kind of like a long movie. Highly recommend, but get ready to cry!!!!

this is probably the first video game to make me cry. i will never forget the narrative, and some of the deaths (especially [spoiler]gregory[/spoiler]) were tragic. i also think the plot twist with [spoiler]edith being dead, and the story being read from her son's narrative[/spoiler] (idrk if thats a plot twist but it certainly surprised me) was very well done! death is a concept i have a lot of thoughts about, far too many to put it into words. i've struggled with loss several times in the past, death or otherwise, and being put in the perspective of each family member makes me wonder what my loved ones felt like when they were dying. what remains of edith finch is without a doubt in my top 5 all-time favorite games. 10/10

Highly Recommended. What Remains of Edith Finch is an incredibly neat, surreal adventure that plays more like a living anthology of short stories than a traditional game. I went through at a slow, deliberate pace and finished it in about 3 hours. It is an odd, beautifully crafted experience that doesn't rely on typical gaming tropes, making it the perfect palette cleanser if you are looking for pure atmospheric storytelling. What stood out to me most was how the world seems to get more elaborate and detailed as the narrative progresses. It almost feels like the developers put in more and more effort the closer they got to the end, intentionally escalating the imagination and mechanical complexity of the stories as you climb higher into the bizarre Finch house. If you want a short, high-effort narrative adventure that will stick with you after the credits roll, this is absolutely worth your time.

Even though the game was short(2-3 hours of gameplay) it is still one of the most beautifully written story games I have played, the way that each story is told in different art style is amazing. Each story isn't made boring or repetative. So I recommend this game to people who enjoy different artistic styles and are ready to dive into the mystery of Edith Finch and her family.
