When I saw this game appear on Steam, a long forgotten memory came back to me! This is actually my very fist video game! I remember when my parents bought me my first PC, this "new game" was delivered with the PC. I didn't like it because it was too difficult (for a 9 year old). Увы, проблема с управлением на 9-м уровне (дикий инпут лаг не позволяет вообще прицелиться хоть во что-нибудь) и из-за этого игра становится непроходимой, разве что с читами. Вроде бы в оригинале этот уровень проходился с джойстиком, но кто вообще будет искать джойстик, совместимый с игрой 1995 года? Можно было и починить это, прежде чем выставлять. Из-за этого не могу рекомендовать. UPDATE: продублирую здесь рецепт из комментов, чтобы было видно сразу. Проблему с 9-м уровнем (Oxygen Approach) можно обойти, если подключить геймпад по USB, включить игру, выйти из игры в досбоксе (Quit to DOS в меню), ввести команду install и выбрать в меню Configure Input Devices (3) -> Joystick (2) -> Save and Exit. Затем в досе ввести команду wetlands, чтобы снова зайти в игру. Оказывается, досбокс поддерживает геймпады, и с ним управление хоть и тоже довольно тормознутое, но В РАЗЫ удобнее и легче. С геймпадом этот уровень проходим. Потом можно точно так же поставить управление обратно на мышь. Больше таких проблемных уровней, к счастью, в игре нет.

Rail shooter with buggy controls

No es el mejor del género, pero sí único por su planteamiento. [b]Wetlands[/b] es un shooter sobre rieles construido con animaciones FMV en 3D, donde el paso del tiempo no le sentó del todo bien. Y no estoy hablando del aspecto visual, porque está más que claro que estamos ante un juego de 1995, sino de decisiones propias del diseño de niveles que a ratos lo vuelve un calvario. No obstante, así y todo, tiene un argumento muy interesante y llevadero y su bajo precio debería ser suficiente motivante para darle una oportunidad. Eso si, no es un juego para todo mundo y si te molesta que corra con DOSBox quizás deberías dejarlo de lado. Para nostálgicos como yo, es un juego que vas a pasar en unas 3 horas tomándolo con calma en diferentes sesiones de juego.

Добротный и хардкорный рельсовый шутер. Конечно, не такая классная, как Киберия, но для поклонников жанра рекомендую. ЗЫ В стиме (да и на GoG тоже) релиз "кривой". Один из уровней пройти практически невозможно (я потратил больше двух часов, почти получилось, да и то случайно). В оригинале управление было сделано под джойстик, а здесь повесили на мышь. В итоге управление в этом уровне совершенно неадекватное. Есть способ переключить на джойстик, довольно хитрый. В игре нужно выбрать "Выйти в DOS", там ввести "install", откроется меню настройки и там можно переключить мышь на джойстик для прохождения этого уровня (контроллер должен быть подключен через USB, может не сработать с первого раза)

Dear developers, players, and whoever reads this, this is probably my first review. I can't give a professional one, especially cause i didnt make it through the game yet, im not having enough skill or the proper requirements for it. The thing is: I actually love the game. Wetlands is a game i played over 20 years ago and never finished. I played it on a very old pc with about 3-5 fps (no joke) I was so happy to find it on steam and felt strong nostalgia for it. Now i tried to play through the whole game. The Chapter "Oxygen Approach" appears in "Zone 3" and i want to say i feel hurt, confused and insulted to suddenly face those requirements, wich are imbalanced on a level like 1000 to 1. I put in on Easy for this Chapter, but the difficulty is still increased a thousandfold in compare to the other chapters. I know its theoretically possible to succeed with mouse, but the skill has to be on an complete insane authistic level, cause you need to remember the perfect position by millimeteres where your mouse started to move and put it perfectly back there in order to make the probe stop steering and keep still for aiming, because yes....after research i understood its meant to played with Joystick, which contains a different controlling system and puts back to center just by releasing the steer direction. But i dont have a Joystick, and i dont agree to buy one just for an exceptional special chapter in this game. That means, if i try to complete the game without cheats or joystick, i have to master an almost insurmountable obstacle. I fear i dont have the time and the stress resilience for this. I think there should be either a hint on the shopsite like "Joystick required" or "strongly recommended" or any possibility to play this chapter as an choosable, not necessary option or any other solution to continue the game. Maybe i keep trying from time to time, but before i freak out i better stop playing and write this review xD Thank you for reading...and still thank you for your huge work in developing all this great content! This is a great on rails shooter from the mid 90s with great cut scenes and an epic anti hero hero story it's like waterworld but everthing is like futuristic sci fi under the sea, i missed it back in the day as a teenager buti'm glad i found this jem!

The cutscenes are very entertaining to watch it is like a movie, the gameplay on most of the levels is good it just takes a bit of time to get used to them, but the level where you are a top-down submarine or something is so buggy because the delay on where you move your mouse is so delayed, overall this game is definetely worth a try.
