"Welcome Home" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from ITU Games in Copenhagen. Student projects might look better than amateur shovelware, but they aren't real games. This is just a glorified homework assignment. It lacks the depth and value you get from professionally developed product because it was made for a grade, not for players. Schools, colleges and universities shouldn't be using Steam to show off student projects. It might be fine for the school's marketing, but it clutters the Steam store with pollution... we have to sort past all these short student tech demos just so we can find real, full games from professional developers. This is a case of a game dev college putting its own interests before the interests of gamers. The students were only given Playstation 2 development kits or something because this looks like hot garbage. It's a very short first person adventure game where your home is taken over by weird hippy cultists, truly everyone's worst nightmare next to being forced to play asset flips and student homework assignments on Steam Direct. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 30 minutes. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. The graphics here are particularly awful, laughably lazy low poly assets and a crappy screen filter, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. It would be unethical for students to try charge money for their homework assignments, so you don't have to pay any money for this. But you'd still have to spend your time downloading this, and "time is money", as they say. There's the other problem, too... as a student project, this wasn't made for gamers. There's no requirement for them to polish and balance the game properly, all they need is something to show the faculty so they can get their grade and move on. Let's once more ask... why is that good for gamers? It's obviously not delivering a solid product. Yet here it is, on the store page, and here you are, reading my review for a student demo that's going to waste your time. While genuine amateur developers who made real products get ignored because they have to compete with this stuff. In some ways, this deluge of student projects on Steam is harmful to everyone. In terms of public reception, the "free" price tag didn't help. This peaked at a handful of players and then immediately cratered. With a peak count of less than 50 gamers (out of over 130 million gamers and over 40 million daily logons), it’s safe to say the PC gaming community has collectively decided to ignore this, probably because of the reasons supplied in this review. This student project/tech demo/glorified homework assignment provides no Steam profile benefits, no +1 to your game count, and little value to gamers (because it's just a small, unpolished student project), so I can't recommend this over the thousands of full, professionally made games on Steam.

I really like the PSX style and I've played a lot of games that tried to imitate it for modern games and I rate this one as one of the most successful experience. The game is shorter but it's free so what are you waiting for?! Go be welcome! Nothing bad can happen...
cool

I LOVED playing this! Its so fun, and the jumpscares got me multiple times when i replayed the game. It did pretty well on my youtube channel too. Aside from gathering the robes thing driving me up the wall, this game was a quick play. about 45 minutes, maybe 30 if you're not dumb like me lol. GREAT GAME!
This was pretty good psx style psychological horror game about visiting a hippie community, but things are not as peaceful it seems. Really good atmosphere and pacing of story. For free its a steal.
It's okay. The art is pretty well done for this game (like old VHS) and the low polys do also their job. It feels depressing etc. The story is okay, nothing special. I think the game itself is pretty close to the movie "Midsommar". You can beat the game within one hour. But still it was pretty okay.
Good game but very short, also the fight with leader could've been made better instead of keysmashing
