It's Mount and Blade arenas but an entire game built around them. If you get a kick out of M&B combat you'll fit right in straight away with this game, and the roguelike permadeath element adds a really satisfying feel of danger to the fights. There's some really cool builds to try as well with different characters and perks you can start with that really change up your approach to the game.

Loving this game, love seeing a small team deliver on a good vision. I do wish there were multiple save slots.

does any one know how to get the game to stop crashing
This game has so much potential, the combat is often fun, i'm sorry this review is going to only be criticisms. Needs better roguelike progression, right now the only progression is like getting 100 extra gold on your future characters, which is not interesting, and takes a huge time investment to become impactful, and takes one of your rewards on the current playthrough levelup, (of which there is only 2 choices. most upgrades are negligible too (ex. +6 to your throwing skill, it's not even perks) no permanent perks or buffs to future playthroughs that are exciting. Favor system needs to be reworked, feels like it has no impact and you're punished for just picking the fight that sounds the most fun. The random encounters are rare and unimpactful. we need more like slay the spire or something. They are nothing close. Please add more roguelike elements and more complexity in stats to weapons. The stamina system is frustrating where it takes 10+ seconds of doing nothing after your stamina bar is depleted. all the fights are just kiting the enemies, even when you have the top gear. enemies are health sponges often. i saw someone else write 90% of the time you just swing from the left to avoid the shield that enemies only hold in their left hand. (mix it up please?) This is accurate, and you are punished for doing certain attacks to mix it up that deal hardly any damage. Once again this game has so much potential.
8.6/10 Amazingly fun good replay value
Yes, it's been in EA for a hot minute, and I had sworn off Early access games. This one, though, I've received quality playtime for the money I've spent, and I've had little technical difficulty. All the issues I"ve had can be resolved through "git gud." Glitches I've had are amusing instances of corpses stuck in buildings or ragdolling across the land like a canon ball. The updates from this lone developer are heavy and impactful to core mechanics and user experience, not "I fixed the pixel count on the sword." Dollar for hour, this game is worth it. Please note, this is a "dying is fun" game, which is an acquired taste. Thank you, Jordy, for your art.
Its mid tbh, its the same game at 5 mins to a few hours in. If youre looking for a gamer like that, here you go. Go into a group, swing and bam. You won the fight.
