I've played quite a few different games in the last year-period (i.e. Marathon, The Forever Winter, Hell Let Loose, Sons of the Forest, Prey, Space Marine 2, Amnesia The Bunker, Stalker 2, The Mound, Pathologic 3) and I would have to say that only about 1/5 of these games were created with the goal of actually being fun. Waterpark Simulator (WS) at first seems like one of those trite working sims that streamers and Yootoobers love ot obssess over. ("Watch me drive trains for 3 hours or sweep up leaves. This is riveting!") but Cayplay managed to strike gold with WS; blending the right amount of actual occupational duties together with light-hearted hilarity. I am reminded of something like Just Cause 3, the FarCry installments, or MGSV: The Phantom Pain, which each presented you with a serious premise but then provided you with a wide variety of tools and methods of achieving your goals with unexpected results. It is both endearing in it's complex simplicity and it's effort to actually humour and respect the player. Eventually the game does run out of new tricks to show the player, and once you achieve a maxed out park there isn't much else in the game's variety or novelty to want to replay it again. But compared to something like Marathon or Halo Remastered, you're not just spending $60 for a poorly made and abandoned experience immediately soured and exploited by the multiplayer. It's a solid trade off. I've tried about a dozen popular games which have existed in 'Early Access' hell for years and not one of them bothered expanding or improving their content to a full release like what WS has. You spend $20 and you get an actually finished game which is capable of entertaining you for the same amount in hours. Solid buy. Get it for the humour and customization. Lose yourself in the flow. Enjoy it in bites. Oh, and to that one guy in the negative reviews section crying about how tiresome and boring it was to get his park to 5 stars...it's actually really not that hard. Bro was really trying to grind a working simulator which lets you automate it to run by itself, lol.
Now Multiplayer, except I don't have any friends interested in the game...No Hara, don't get this the main communication is Voice (and it shows). That being said, it's a whacky game that makes you the manager of your own water park, starting with the basics (an empty shell and a desolate lot), and expanding as you complete tasks, the park can /slowly/ be upgraded, and Hey Even though players can't swim, they can still slide and ragdoll into the pool...it's a little zaney even in Single-player...no telling how this'd play out in MP.
good
