Contempt is my armor. Disgust is my shield. Hatred is my sword. In His name, let none survive.
10/10 ive been enjoying this more than balders gate
10/10 - would save Koronus Expanse again. Greatly enjoyed my time with the game and I'm looking forward to replaying it in a year or two with different path.
The best crpg I've ever played. Among the very best games I've ever played, too.
This one is good.
For the Emperor!
TLDR: a great turn-based RPG, the story is quite enjoyable, but if you are new to the WH4K universe, might want to check out build guides :) Aug 2026: I love turn-based CRPG! My first (brief) attempt to play Rogue Trader ended in failure/frustration, since I pretty much knew nothing about the world/history/lore of the WH4K universe. I couldn't beat the boss at the end of the Prologue. All the previous fights were easy, and I built my characters without reading any build guides. After I think 5 tries and getting seriously destroyed by the Prologue boss, I said, meh, and walked away. Fast forward to Aug 2026, I read an article on PCGamer raving about how good the Rogue Trader is now, after all the DLCs and patches, and mentioned a couple of build guides, especially the super strong Blade Dancer. So I bought the 3 DLCs, and watched the yt video, followed the companion leveling guide, and beat the Prologue boss on my 2nd try! :) So now I'm in Act I and really starting to enjoy the scope of the game! So yeah, I feel no shame at all following a build guide, because I just want to play the game and discover the story.
Rogue Trader is the best Owlcat game for sure, but is it the one with which Owlcat can prove to be more than just the most zealous fanboys of old school Rpgs a la Baldur's Gate? Well, no, for my money, they will never reach the same heights. But they get pretty close with this entry. If there is one negative it's the sheer amount of text. Owlcat aren't shying away from writing several novels worth of dialogues and descriptions for their games, which is mostly of decent but never of brilliant quality. In cases like these it's actually a blessing to show some restraint. Another problem I see with this is the inability of conveying a grimdark setting consistently. To my mind the decision to do good in a grimdark setting has to be met with reality, which would somehow if not pervert the outcome, then at least not let good be done without major sacrifices. Too many times here the heroes escape inescapble situations and are able to reach happy endings (at least for the duration of the game). Yes, you are allowed to play an evil character or, well, this universe's parody of a republican, but whenever you play iconoclast the game turns into high fantasy and something tells me it's not what this particular setting is about. I understand that games with happy endings all around sell better, because many players find them more satisfying, but ah well. Still it is all in all a great introduction to the lore and a whole lot of fun.
The greatest game in the Warhammer 40k universe. A gateway drug to it:) Diverce companions, cool story, great voice acting, beautiful music and sound effects. A true heir to Baldur's Gate era RPGs.
