Worst implementation of line of sight rules I've seen in any tactical rpg thus far. Enemies shooting through solid walls while you can't shoot back, happens in almost every other combat. I really tried to like the game and everything around it seems to be fine, but this is such a fundamental game mechanic that it simply cannot be ignored.
There is something magical about Warhammer 40,000 as a setting that has a way of hooking its claws into you and literally never letting you go. Rogue Trader truly is 40k at its strongest. I seldom feel this way about a game where it consumes almost all aspects of my life and I'm so glad I played this. 40k as a whole is far from beginner friendly, but Rogue Trader makes it accessible and genuinely fun to learn about. Of all the things I love about this game, I think its main strength lies with the writing and especially its character writing. But the art style is timeless too, and honestly really gorgeous as well. After a few characters played, I do wish we had more visual customization during character creation, but you can't win them all, I suppose. It compensates for its lack of visual distinction with the insane flexibility you have for builds and how ridiculously op you can get. Man i dont know I just love this game. It's cool that you can play coop too even though it's not true coop. Spectacular give me 14 of them right now. The Emperor protects.
Одна из лучших cRPG и точно S-tier в рамках игр по 40к. Уникальное сочетание проработанной в глубину боевки и тонны интересных (!) диалогов и ситуаций
I would recommend this game to players who like punishment. The inventory system is a chore and the character progression is needlessly complex. And finally, the reason I'm going to the bother here, there's an inconceivably stupid difficulty spike after Chapter 1. Minor spoilers: You go from fighting hordes of Chaos cultists, including a Tzeentch Screamer and a Chaos Marine, both of which weren't particularly challenging, to fighting street gangs on Footfall, which will curbstomp you like you were nothing. Very frustrating, breaks the immersion of the game. Does no one play test their games anymore?
I neat idea ultimately dragged down by RNG nonsense and tedious, slow battles that all feel the same. The abilities are uninteresting and the auto save is awful.
Во имя Омнисии очень достойная игра Император хранит
Can't play co-op without dysyncs every few minutes. Even during the turn-based battles which really shouldn't be hard to keep synchronized.
I am not very familiar with 40K lore, but this game does a really good job presenting it in a digestible way. The architypes all feel very unique and are fun in their own ways. Story seems very strong so far. Voice acting is surprisingly good. On the surface, character creation seems a little overwhelming... but it is not nearly as complicated as it seems, just slightly more complex than other similar CRPGs. One thing of note: if you are playing co-op, the host is in control and the others are along for the ride. Doesn't bother me personally, but I'm sure that will be a negative for someone.
If they fix all the bugs, rewrite the sub plots that end terribly (Yrliet romance ending anti-climactically completely devoid of romantic catharsis, Argenta's clunky as hell questline, the fact that Argenta's confession in chapter 3 goes absolutely nowhere, to name a few), rewrite the comically, smugly-evilly written grimderp ending slides to not be for the sole purpose of giving the player the middle finger rather than being satisfying, character-based conclusions to the story, and make augments more varied than just the same six gimmick abilities slightly flavoured now and again, then the game would be at least a 6.5/10, but not only is that a BIG "if", even then the game would still have problems. Also I'm gonna emphasise this particular point again because nothing pisses me off more than excellently set-up stories and characters that get paid off like ♥♥♥♥: Yrliet's romance, seriously, not even an "I love you"? Just sitting cross-legged, doing alien spiritual bonding that should be stage ONE in the relationship, a sort of cultural exchange between the two characters that ends with more meaning than both characters thought possible, not THE ONLY STAGE, talking about how it's "so much more profound and meaningful" than actual substantive expressions of love. God, what a let down.
