I actually love the combat in this. The way classes interact and abilities work is really interesting. The story is fine so far. My one criticism is the camera is awful. I feel like I can't see what i wan half the time.
I'm new to the Warhammer 40k lore, but this game got me interested in learning more. After this game, i went ahead and bought several other WH games and refunded them. Why? Because none of them actually gave much in the way of story telling and this game does. There is a lot of reading, but I am glad, because you learn so much more about your characters as well as the back story of this universe. That, imo, is what makes it so engaging. The turn based rpg battles are somewhat similar to BG3, which I like anyway. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan and so I bought it more for the turn based combat. IMO, it works great for this game and this story. The graphics are decent enough for me. The battle sequences are decent as well once you get used to their format. I also like that there are highlighted works in the dialogue which you simply put your cursor over and it will explain these WH terms and what they refer to. THere is also an encyclopedia that you can utilize. All in all, I think it's an excellent game and I intend to read some WH 40k books because the story has me intrigued about this sci fi universe. On sale, I think this is a fantastic bargain.
I am not a warhammer player, but this game has managed to strike the perfect balance between "lore avalanche" and "Baby's First Grim Dark Future". The writing is solid, the core gameplay loop is engaging, and the graphics are high-quality without crashing my PC. Short review: Made me want to enter an actual retail location to purchase $70 figurines.
Simply one of the finest modern CRPGs available, far and away Owlcat's best work. Love for the 40k setting is tangible in every detail; like Tindalos, Casedo Games, and other newer 40k-related studios, Owlcat simply gets it . On top of that, it's just plain fun ; I've found the gameplay so engaging that I've indulged myself with not one, but two successive playthroughs following the release of The Infinite Museion , a rare thing for me to consider worth doing. If you're a 40k fan, you owe it to yourself to experience this game - it's a real labour of love and you won't regret it.
Fun tactics game, although has a lot very complicated rpg elements
The best 40K game I've ever played, one of the best stories and characters of any RPG I've ever played, some of the best voice acting of any game I've played, and THE best CRPG I've ever played.
My conclusion after finishing the game on Daring: Pros: incredible worldbuilding, interesting "building" (colony) system, unique gear Cons: lacking combat (especially towards the later parts of the game), rushed ending and by FAR the worst-nonexistant companion interactions (just some quests here and there, if you think it's like bg3 you're completely wrong). Daring felt a bit too easy, I think both because owlcat intended it to be and because the builds are not that hard to figure out in this game. By the last 3rd of the game, I was finishing boss fights in the first turn. Armor and weapons visuals are limited on a lot of characters. Just like 99% of crpgs (even bg3), it starts out strong and is very rushed towards the later parts. Act 1 is the introduction but act 2 was very enjoyable to play. This is where you can do most of the exploring that is available throughout the game. Act 3 was ok, relatively short and didn't allow for any exploration. No words on act 4 and 5. Utterly rushed and added 0 content if you already did all the optional stuff in act 2. Also, the game felt unpolished during some parts. Despite all that, I feel the need to point out that the game is VERY good. Not bg3 or dos2 quality but up there for sure (subjective, of course). I would recommend checking this game out if you're into crpgs!
It's a great game! try it!
