A wonderfully quirky, fast-paced, and delightfully chaotic top-down strategy game that breathes fresh new life into classic, toy-soldier battle simulators! Stepping into the tiny boots of a commander doll to erect bases and launch backyard miniature warfare is every bit as exhilarating and nostalgic as it sounds. The stylized 3D visual design and tightly structured backyard arena layouts capture that magical, high-energy retro arcade energy flawlessly. What truly elevates the gameplay loop is the hybrid action-strategy dynamic: balancing real-time toy soldier spawns like riflemen, miniature tanks, and anti-tank units while actively blasting enemies with your doll's own special gun creates an incredibly rewarding reflex check. Outsmarting the rival commander before your forces get wiped out keeps your tactical coordination working at absolute maximum capacity. It is the absolute perfect, light-hearted single-player gem for a quick 20-minute resource-management check, testing your micro-management skills under pressure, and enjoying pure indie creativity—all for the grand price of absolutely free! A delightful, tightly focused wargame experiment that is a must-play for any fan of casual arcade RTS titles. Definitely recommended!

"Wardoll" is essentially a ripoff of the successful RTS "Army Men" from 2002 where you use a 3D printer to create green army men and then send them off to fight. Think of this very much as a 2025 version of "Army Men" only laughably, comically worse in every single respect. We are all of us lessened by the existence of this game. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. Most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's usually some kind of monetisation, from nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, to any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
