Oh, I remember this game! I tried to back it on two Kickstarter campaigns in 2014-2015 that were unfortunately unsuccessful. The authors promised to work on the game anyway in their spare time, but there were no news from them for years. So I was very surprised for the game to appear 10 years later - bought it at the first sale. Sadly, my first impression was a dissapointement. The game was totally unfinished at that point! Now, the good thing is that the developer keeps it updating, so after several months I have finally completed the game - and even changed my review from negative to positive! Don't get me wrong - there are still bugs and some other things like missing voiceovers, but nothing too critical now. And it is even more charming to have Nigel the skeleton narrator to explain things behind the scene in order to reimburse the missing animations :) The story is surprisingly fresh and interesting (to say nothing of the gloomy atmosphere, which is quite unique), even if there are just a handful of locations and characters. The puzzles are somewhat not very intuitive in the beginning, but everything becomes much easier later. And rather straightworward - I think I spent more times in the Prologue chapter than in Acts 1, 2 and 3 put together.
This game is full of bugs.
Pros - Nice artstyle - Decent voice acting - Interesting world and characters Cons - Lacks alot of polish; lots of continuity issues with dialog trees and even interactions being repeatable after no longer being relevant. - Lots of other strange glitches; at one point the character repeats all of the dialog from the chapter. - Hotspots can be a little finicky, saving and reloading is sometimes necessary to get hotpots to work. - The game has horible post processing effects that make everything dark and blurry. You can turn them off but they toggle back on each time you reload the game, - Every time you load a save the character does this weird walking around the scene even over parts that shouldn't be walkable. - Looking at the guide there is whole sections "outside the bar" and "inside the bar" which seems to have been skipped almost entirely in my playthrough (I did wonder why I had all of these extra items in my inventory for no reason and why certain puzzles seemed unfnished. ) I was still going to give the game a possitive review despite the flaws but unfortunately there is game breaking bug for me at the end. Based on a guide I should "Go into the bathroom and speak to Death" but the death character doesn't appear for me at all so I am stuck. It seems like whole sections of the game skipped for me (maybe also down to missing characters.) Unfortunately I can't give the game a possitive review if it can't be finished.
