About
Victim Complex: Part 1 is an early Demo for the upcoming full game release, scheduled for Q4 2025. Search Steam for Victim Complex to add the Full Game to your wishlist, see more demos, and get updates on progress!
Victim Complex is a first person, narrative-driven horror experience. Play as hack medium Jack Lognare, who has stumbled on his first legitimate haunting. Will you try to help the spirits trapped in the haunted apartment complex, or will you rush to save yourself before whatever killed them gets you too?
Use iconic ghost-hunting equipment to find and communicate with the lingering spirits in an abandoned apartment complex.
Follow the spirits' clues to discover what happened to the deceased tenants.
Whatever killed the tenants is still here... can you avoid it and escape with your life?
Hack medium Jack Lognare has a specialty: "cleansing" haunted locations so that they can be fixed up and sold without the stigma they once had in their communities. When he is hired to exorcise the spirits in an apartment complex in rural Wisconsin, he expects to find the same thing he usually does: nothing.
But when he arrives, he discovers that this time, the rumors may actually be true, and he has found his first legitimate haunting. Initially thrilled to use his phony "ghost hunting equipment" for real, he soon learns that the malicious Entity that supposedly killed all the residents may be real as well... and it doesn't plan on letting him leave so easily.
Each chapter will have multiple endings; will Jack help the trapped spirits along the way and get the true answers, or focus on getting out as quickly as possible before he shares their fate?
You decide how Jack will fare, in Victim Complex.

There are a few bumps here and there, but the game managed to properly scare me a few times! It's always great sign that the developer listens to feedback and I look forward to see where it goes from here
I really enjoyed playing this game! The voice acting is great, and the atmosphere is very well done. The story is super engaging, and within the first 10 minutes, you're hooked. I also liked the bong on top of the safe, whoever made that is probably super cool and awesome! I did encounter some bugs when loading saves. Certain events, like doors locking or items spawning, would sometimes be locked or fail to spawn after loading. Otherwise, this is a solid game. Honestly, I'm very impressed with how well it was designed, especially considering it's the developer's first game.

A fantastic jaunt into the horror genre. The atmosphere and voice acting is on point throughout the game, walking the line between making you jump and making you unsettled. I am not a fan of horror that tries to just skate by on jump scares and thankfully that is very much not the case here. It is not a super long game (longer if you find all the clues) as it is part 1 but what is here is a rich and worth while experience.
Victim Complex: Part 1 offers an eerie and narrative-driven horror experience, putting players in the shoes of Jack Lognare, a self-proclaimed medium investigating a truly haunted apartment complex. With the help of classic ghost-hunting tools, players must communicate with spirits, uncover dark pasts, and ultimately decide whether to help or escape. The game shines in its atmosphere, creating a tense, unsettling environment filled with eerie sound design, shadowy visuals, and well-placed paranormal events. The use of ghost-hunting equipment, particularly the EMP radar and spirit communication, adds an immersive touch, giving players a sense of genuine investigation rather than just passive exploration. However, technical issues hold the experience back. Some players have reported that core mechanics—like spirit interactions and ghost-detecting tools—don’t function properly, particularly after updates. Others have encountered game-breaking glitches, such as being stuck in place or scripted events failing to trigger. The flashlight mechanic, which requires frequent switching between hands, adds unnecessary frustration to an already dark and claustrophobic setting. In terms of content, the game is short—offering only a limited section of the apartment complex and a single, relatively linear progression path. While multiple endings are advertised, the lack of clear clues makes unlocking them difficult. The price point feels high for the amount of content currently available, and with no clear roadmap for future parts, there’s understandable skepticism about whether the full trilogy will ever be completed. Final Verdict: Victim Complex: Part 1 has strong horror potential, delivering a gripping atmosphere and engaging investigative mechanics. However, technical problems, short playtime, and an uncertain future make it hard to recommend at full price. If you enjoy indie horror and can tolerate some bugs, it may be worth picking up on sale. Otherwise, it might be best to wait and see if the full game ever materializes.
This game has an interesting story, and a very unsettling atmosphere. I played the game through, but was met with a screen saying multiple endings, meaning there is plenty more playtime to be had out of the game. The solo part is what makes it unique in my opinion - forcing me into a dark apartment complex, ALONE! Overall a great indie horror game!
Nice narrative spooky experience. Ambiance and some encounters scared me (pretty easy to do so), a solid indie game experience!
Fun Little Game with Great ideas. The Game gives me a detective/Ghost Hunter Vibes such as Phasmophobia without the need of dealing with people. If i could improve upon anything i would Spend More money on the Entity and Building Details to set more of atmosphere. The Ghost being Trapped in Certain things being able to talk to you and back is cool. it is Nice having a voice for the Main Character. I Loved using the Crystal to find the Clues and items around building. Sound Effects with the Crystal would be nice. Game didn't Have any Performance issues with my System at all. I would like to maybe see Cinematics during the Flashbacks of people talking while you're eyes are closed etc.But overall had fun enjoying this Indie Title Good SinglePlayers games done by SIngle dev's are rare to find. PS game is Patched Rather Quickly once Problems are spotted.
very intriguing and engaging. It left we wanting more which is what you want out of a game right? I cant wait till the next parts are released, I need to find out what happened to other residents and save the entity speaking to us. Thanks for the release and look forward to the next releases.
Update: Changing my review to "Not recommended". The latest updates still haven't fixed the game's mechanics. Although you can now call out to ghosts, which did not work before, you still don't get any response from them or clues that lead to other endings. Update also broke things that worked before. For instance, the device for detecting ghost presence is no longer detecting. Before the update the numbers would jump as you looked at different spots. Another broken part is where you need to close your eyes; now the threatening music keeps playing even after the monster is gone. The game also doesn't save after this part. Short game in which you can decide whether or not to help the spirits. The game places you in the shoes of a specialist who "cleans" houses of entities. Nobody doubts you when you declare a house is clean, so it appears you are fairly good at your job. Your next client does not believe you, but he appreciates the effort. He purchased an apartment building known as "The Complex," which appears to be haunted. Many people died there. So now he wants you to go there and do your thing, or simply pretend everything is OK. Unfortunately, it is not as simple because something is actually inside. The building has three floors and multiple rooms, but you only get to see one apartment and the basement. The complex has been abandoned for a long time and appears to be occupied by homeless people, as evidenced by furniture that has been flipped over and plundered, mattresses on the floor, mold on the walls, and trash everywhere. You can open drawers and cupboards, but they are empty. Unfortunately, you will not see much because the game is really dark. Despite having a flashlight, you are unable to use both hands simultaneously. This is a problem when you need to switch between items. Instead of using one hand just for the flashlight, you turn it off whenever you switch to another thing. However, a crystal that highlights crucial items that would otherwise be impossible to find helps fix this problem. Your job is to make contact with the spirit and help it find peace. This does not take long because a woman's voice contacts you quickly via your EMP radar. She will be your main guide, telling you what to look for and where to go. Certain things will allow you to hear moments from the woman's past, and any clues you discover about the complex and the spirit will be recorded in the journal. The process is not easy. Part of this is due to unnerving sounds like knocking on the door and banging, as well as paintings changing as you pass past them. The other reason is a dangerous entity that can show up and kill you. Fortunately, these encounters are scripted, and the game automatically creates a checkpoint. You get away from it by hiding in the closet. The game is short. Although you can see your objectives, which somewhat helps you avoid aimless wandering, they only lead you to the first ending. I have no idea how to reach the other three because there a no more clues visible anywhere. The price is high for the content, especially if you can’t find the other endings, but you also buy the promise of free further chapters. There are also some issues with achievements; I had to interact with the letter several times to unlock one, and I didn't get anything for ending 1.
great game loved it, but since achievements aren't working I can'T complete it and it pisses me off. If the creator fixes it or contacts me I will change my opinion.
