Honestly, this is one of the better VTM games there is, and one of the best VR games I've played (which isn't many). Sort of like a lightweight Dishonored, vampire-powering through these stealth missions is good fun. The odd set-piece-y section that gets away from this can be annoying, especially when you're pushed into combat. But, core stealthing is a thrill, and the Venice setting has some great vibes.
Un'occasione mancata Premetto che non ho mai seguito le uscite della serie "The World of Darkness", ma poteva sicuramente essere una buona occasione per sfruttare l'IP e produrre un gioco VR che attiri la fanbase sfruttando poi l'abilità di fast travel games. Alla fine purtroppo si è rivelato un gioco che prova mettere insieme varie meccaniche non riuscendo con successo a farne quasi nessuna. Il gioco cerca di proporsi prevalentemente come uno stealth, ma il tutto viene ostacolato dalla "clunkyness" delle altre meccaniche. Spesso l'arrampicata è derivativa e ci si incastra qua e là, la raccolta degli oggetti è terribile, si basa su una fisica un po' ad elastico ma nelle situazioni concitate 2 volte su 3 gli oggetti sti staccheranno da terra ma non riuscirete a prenderli in mano, con la conseguenza di farvi sgamare. La meccanica del morso dei nemici il più delle volte ci si mette una vita ad arrivare al loro collo, perdendo tempo ed anche qui facendovi sgamare. A volte l'audio si bugga, lasciando un suono particolare in loop continuo coprendo il resto: il più comune il nutrirsi dai ratti. Infine la storia non è niente di che, ma probabilmente ci sono troppi dialoghi per un gioco VR, inoltre talvolta vengono proposte in questi ultimi il tono con cui porsti: gentile, aggressivo, etc. Ma probabilmente è qualcosa di abbastanza ininfluente ai fini delle variazioni di gameplay. Capisco che la saga è nata come un puro RPG, ma o si sfrutta appieno la cosa o la si abbandona del tutto. E per un gioco VR probabilmente era meglio lasciar stare. Infine qualche crash ogni tanto. Played on Meta Quest 3 via Link cable (which ran into a really prevalent crash-on-launch issue). Let me preface by saying I'm not the most staunch VtM / World of Darkness fan, so I'll skip commenting on the game's faithfulness to the lore in this review. [b]This game is at 64% "Mixed" rating on Steam right now -- I'd really like to give it a yellow Mixed review myself. Alas there isn't such a thing on Steam.[/b] First of all, it's was a massive pain with the issue of constant crashing on attempting to launch the game (UE4 engine error). I could luckily work around it by taking off my headset first and [b]only[/b] launching via my Steam Library page - seems to not work either if I launch via desktop shortcut. This is the first game I've had such an issue on, and I'm absolutely unsure as to what exactly is the cause, but I've not tried playing wirelessly with the Steam Link app. Alas I haven't managed to find a solution online to this problem. Otherwise, I've also encountered gameplay impairing bugs during my playthrough. Equipment count not reverting properly on reload from checkpoint; alert enemies never returning to their previous patrol nor losing their alert level; and some other slightly less annoying problems. Other minor less critical problems (typical jank) are also present: hassle with the hand-gesture UI for selecting ammo-type; Alyx-style hand flick-and-grab not being responsive; weird rubber-banding at times when trying to strafe (I don't know if it's my controller, actually); and so on. [b]However - as a stealth-focused game, I think my biggest gripe is with the game's level layout and enemy placements.[/b] I like a bit of challenge myself, and I can't say there was absolutely zero "skill issue" on my part, but I just feel like the game has way too many sections where enemy patrols overlap, leaving me very minimal space to manuever. It was particularly frustrating earlier on when I was putting in utmost effort to succeed on the missions' side objectives that include Zero Detection and Zero Kills - which led to many, many reload-from-checkpoint. A couple of segments even seemed impossible to get past without running into one or more guards' line-of-sight. Add the bugs with enemy alert states and not responding to thrown objects' noise on top of that, and I had myself many an annoying moment. These issues peeved me off less once I'd resigned to giving up certain side objectives (forgoing their XP rewards) instead of trying to maximize my rewards on each level. On the outdoor traversal sections, the game does provide little nooks and crannies you can explore, but so many of them seem to simply be empty rooms that don't seem have been intended as alternative sneaking passages either. I just feel like they were a distraction and I'd wasted my effort combing through the maze-like flooded Venician back alleys. ...but, despite all these misgivings, at the end of the day I didn't absolutely dread playing through the story and did somewhat enjoy the storyline. I'll leave my review as Positive given the current score the game is at.

I like what I played and saw. Didn't progress that far, not for any fault of this game. I have a problem with my Quest 2 VR rig and all VR games: Love the headset and visuals but hate the controls. Even with Blade & Sorcery and other very well liked games I can't grab the handholds in almost all VR games (except Alyx and there that blessed turned by hand wheel made me skip a chapter cause I couldn't do that twice as required, try as I might). I hate VR touch controls, and I think VR would have progressed much farther if when not indispensable, they offered the alternative of using a gamepad or K&M like in excellent Bordelands 2 VR, my favorite VR game.
When only 5% of players actually finish a game, it is telling. For me, the game punishes you for doing what you want to do as a vampire which is bleed the enemy. Most of the optional objectives have you being a pacificist which means no killing in order to get bonus XP. This seems rather counter intuitive. They should have an optional objective as drain the blood of x amount of people or something like that. Also, the blink move doesn't allow you to drain the blood but still kills the enemy. What?!? How stupid is that? The advancement of skills is nice but too bad that none of them are useful for boss fights. The biting of necks is very hit or miss. You can sometimes grab an enemy but not be able to actually bite them. Almost every special action uses up your "power" meter with only killing the enemy (or rats) to replenish. Now trying to get that pacifist objective gets much harder. It is not fun way to play. Instead, I didn't care about that and just enjoyed being a vampire. The best part of the game is the side missions where there is a very nice escape room puzzle element to them. I wish there was more of that. Instead, this game seems to actually want you to play a stealth game not a vampire game. It is really just too bad as the atmosphere, music and voice acting are pretty good. If you want a stealth game with a vampire character that is "defanged" for most of the game, then enjoy. Otherwise, I can't recommend this game other than as just another failed VR experience.
Un buen juego en oferta. La idea es buena y si el juego se enfocara al 100% al sigilo me encantaria mas, aunque solo pasa unas pocas veces, las secciones donde te obligan a pelear me parecen directo lo peor juego esta hecho mas por cumplir y se nota cuando te vez obligado a hacerlo
