The king is deceitful, the queen is wicked, and the bishop unholy. In every land it’s the same. Corrupted knights and power hungry pawns. It’s time for change. You've waited long enough. Be brave. Be daring. Be the last one standing.

---------------------------------------- Even after understanding the concept of the game (and I did this by pressing a "?" in the corner of the home screen after trying to play a few times) I didn't find it fun, it seems like a concept that became a game before its time, besides the initial confusion, the only one difference between the levels are the maps, they don't have any kind of history and I couldn't have fun with the game. Maybe it's not a game for everyone, but a niche, for me it certainly isn't. I recommend watching a gameplay if you are thinking of buying.
The game doesn't tell you it's mechanics. I just keep dying. That's not how a game should be.

It's FPS chess. The idea is the pawns are the weakest links, moving up to the kings which are the strongest. You want to move around and suck life from other pieces, then shoot that at the other pieces to knock them out. You start out as a pawn and are trying to eventually become a king, to be the last one standing. Sounds cool right? Except it's not, and it's really, really, really hard. Oh and it's $10 bucks. No thanks.
This is a quite bizarre hybrid of Chess and a first person arena shooter. If that doesn't sound like a great concept, it gets worse. You can only shoot once, there's weird and mysterious rules for gameplay that aren't immediately apparent, and what's the point in playing an arena shooter where you just botmatch anyway? I wonder how the developers pitched this to themselves. "You know Unreal Tournament, pretty good game, huh? Ok so let's take that and then replace the graphics with textureless low poly assets with some shaders, and then replace the characters with chess pieces, and replace the cool guns and stuff with dinky weird abilities that are kind of buggy and don't work properly. And take out multiplayer, because who wants that?"
Schach und First Person Shooter.
You've heard of First Person Shooters. You've heard of Chess. Well now you've heard of First Person Shooter Chess. Also it's rather bizarre and quite difficult but I recommend it only to those looking to satisfy their morbid curiosity for this incredible juxtaposition of game genres.
At first I thought I'd get to play chess. Or something like Archon, perhaps. How wrong I was. Instead, you get brain-dead dodge ball deathmatch against bots. Or something of that sort because the game never actually explains what you are supposed to do. Nor does it say what the controls are. After 15 minutes I managed to find most of them, I think, except Space makes some kind of farting noise and I have no idea what that means. Urja looks like a proof of concept or a school project at best and I wouldn't recommend it if it was free. To charge $10 for this mess is nothing short of robbery.
