About
Escape the depths by bouncing on bubbles and avoid the hazards which slowly present themselves. Glowing red = danger... at least to start with! Each new depth you reach causes the colours to change and the hazards to increase, with enough random generation so each upfall is never the same. It's not easy, it's sometimes mean, but with fast restarts, lots to discover, and quick rounds you'll find yourself coming back over and over.
Can you find your way back to the surface?
Totally, utterly free – The world isn't great right now for a lot of people so we wanted to give back. Upfall is completely free - no ads, no monetisation, no catch
Quick rounds – Each fall takes between 2 and 10 minutes so you can play between other games or on your lunch break
Unlocks and customisation – Unlock colour palettes, audio styles, ambiences, and characters to customise how the game looks and sounds
Keyboard or controller – Play keyboard only, feel the controller vibrate, or watch the DualShock 4/DualSense controller light change colour to reflect the game state
Chill but eerie – Simple rules to discover with a creepy, no-jump scares, atmosphere to keep you engaged and coming back
Do you want to know what playing a game might sound like in a massive underground oil tank? How about in an otherworldly gasometer, a 60 meter tall silo, or played through a slinky? Upfall experiments with convolution reverb to put the game into real, strange places around the globe that you can explore as you play.
A game by Amicable Animal with art from eggysworld and piano samples from Luci Holland.
Made for humans, by humans.

AY this game is kinda FUN go PLAY IT
I really enjoyed this one... had me wanting to smash my keyboard a few times (but the same could be said for UFO 50, which I also love) And as an adult gamer, I appreciate a game that respects my time. Definitely worth a look.

This is the type of game that makes you say "looks easy enough", encourages you to try it because it's free, sucks you in because of the atmosphere, unlockables, and customization, then you get deep enough in and it repeatedly punches you in the gut with absolutely no remorse. Will take a while for anyone to beat from initially starting out, and good for the struggle of needing something, if anything, to play. All for the low, low price of free. Get it, try it. Support a free game. Turn your volume on :)
Whilst not a puzzle game, I enjoyed this immensely :)
This is a really fun game for a 10-minute break. The star of the show is definitely the sound design (headphones strongly recommended), but the gameplay really holds up as well. There are lots of little touches that add little bits of depth to the moment-to-moment decision making. The game is somehow meditative and challenging at the same time.
A really simple, yet really fun game. The gameplay loop doesn't change that much but it somehow doesn't get boring. The sound design and ambience are really good and you can unlock more sounds/music and other things as you progress.

Surprisingly addictive and challenging, and there's something satisfying about unlocking new palettes and ambient sounds.
It's kinda like simplified reverse Downwell. Good polish, very fun, challenging in the right amount. I'll keep playing it in the in-betweens like the creator suggested. Update for Steam Awards 2025: do you like haunting ambient "music"? You'll love this! It's awful but it's part of the charm that you are trapped underwater jumping on air bubbles. Would pay for this game and I'm happy to see that at the time of updating my review (27/11/25) there are still updates and fixes. Great job!
