Buggy, crashes constantly and has been replaced with a game of the same name that has been in early access for 10 years.
Scum ♥♥♥♥ developers that delisted their game and decided to re-release it as the same title with updates for double the price. If it was universe sandbox 2 that would be one thing, this is literally the same game with the fixes they should have maintained from the beginning. Pirate it off any site that uploads Gog games
Universe Sandbox Legacy is genuinely fun for what it is — a lightweight space physics sandbox where you can do things like make Mercury half the mass of the Sun and watch it drag Earth out of orbit, or just sit back and let asteroids wreak havoc on the solar system. It runs surprisingly well even on modest hardware and scratches that itch for anyone curious about astronomy or orbital mechanics. That said, it's hard to ignore how the developer handled this title: they essentially abandoned it, rebranded it as 'Legacy,' and launched a sequel under the original name with no discount or compensation for early supporters. The game itself is worth a few hours of fun, but the sequel (now just called Universe Sandbox) is objectively better in every way. If you don't already own this, skip it and buy the current version instead — this one's a historical curiosity at this point.
Have a fine time fooling around with the cosmos. What you see is what you get -- and it's really cool if you've got half-a-brain!
This is not a game, but it's not good either.
Aren't we just the lucky few to have bought this right before the sequel snagged all the attention a decade ago. I'm only reminded of my anger after seeing the sequel BARELY on sale all these years later. The audacity to go back and change a game's title, obscuring their scummy history, really boils me.
They abandoned this, replaced it with a new version and this original 'legacy' version is unable to be played anymore. Disgusting.
