I want to love this game, I really do, but the controls and lack of health make it leave a bad taste in my mouth. I know this game was made with the intent on those who gave up their dreams, but REALLY?! You didn't truly achieve that goal, despite an excellent effort...you made a game that makes people quit less than twenty minutes into the game. Enemies are way too strong, the health (like I said) is very limited, the controls are terrible (they're far too delayed, jumping and dodging sometimes don't work, attacks are too slow and weak), and the checkpoints are too irregular to be reliable. I get the feeling that the dev wanted a style of game that is semi souls-like, but with its own style and gameplay, but the end result is a game that tries too hard at what it wants to be akin to, and ends up sacrificing any potential of fun the game might have had. The most aggravating feature of the game is the jumping. Firstly, the jump button is the 'up' button, which as a certain person on youtube said, "Jump should not be the freakin' up button!" There are plenty of keys on the keyboard that are suitable and far more intuitive, but the dev instead chose to make the jump button a trick. I know so many people who are used to the jump button being close to the other controls, and the 'up' button being a means of climbing, aiming, etc. they would have nightmares about this game. Secondly, jumping when right next to a wall only makes your character spasm like he's having a bad reaction to the soda, pop rocks, and super-spicy bean burritos he ate for lunch and breakfast. He WILL NOT JUMP when you are next to a wall. I have died so many times due to that problem. Third, dodging. Why did the dev decide that dodging should only work half the time when you use it? The character will dodge just fine in most cases, but when enemies are aplenty on the screen, he'll just decide, "F it! I'm going to let these freaks smack me around like a tennis ball until I explode, turn to ash, and then come back to life to DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! YAY! I LOVE MY NEVER-ENDING TORMENT AND I WANT TO SEE HOW MANY TIMES I CAN DIE IN A SINGLE GAME!" The fourth transgression the game inflicts upon you is the checkpoints...or the lack thereof. The checkpoints at first are relatively easy to reach and locate, but then, only six or seven minutes in, the game decides, "Oh no! This player will beat me in about an hour if I keep being liberal with the checkpoints, better fix that issue quick." The end result is that the checkpoints become so difficult to reach and spread out that when you die (which as I said before, you do a LOT), you lose all your accumulated progress, watch your pathetic and edgy character die in a rather lackluster fashion, and then start over from the last checkpoint. If the US government had as few checkpoints between each state, then the highways wouldn't be make as much income on the tollways. Lastly, the health. Finding health is difficult, managing health is very difficult, and actually acquiring health is a freakin' nightmare. Finding health is bad, especially in a part of a level that you haven't fully memorized. Managing you health is even worse, as even the most pathetic enemies consume more of your health than a machine gun goes through ammo on full auto when it's being operated by a six year-old kid that's gone gun-crazy. Getting the health is the worst, as there are several instances where the coveted health is protected by several enemies, including the 'exploding enemy go boom' form of monster. But I can see a glimmer of what the game could have been, it would have been fun to play as an edgelord character who would destroy anyone who barred his progress, a FREE GAME, mind you, that promised to be difficult and was a product of honoring others who gave up. But when the execution of said game actually makes people give up when they play it...well, that's not what I think the game devs were intending. if you want a free game that is difficult as all heck, makes you die over and over and lose your progress and has terrible controls, play this. If you want a game that isn't crippled by its jumping, lack of health and checkpoints...go somewhere else.

Just awful, it's slow, clunky, repetitive, unnecessarily hard and the hitboxes are shet
Well worth a look, a free groundwork for the projects that followed... plenty to like
