what was this game.
If you're here for the arcade mode, you'll probably enjoy this game. If you're here for the story mode, know you'll encounter frequent performance issues, bugs, an unfinished feel and a pretty disjointed narrative. Nonetheless, it has a decent ending, but these frequent issues take me out of the experience and leave a bad taste in my mouth.
was super excited for the game way back when it was first announced and got to play the demo but the story mode is super buggy with missing assets, jump cuts to different scenes mid gameplay with assets just popping in and super delayed dialogue long after the corresponding text has left the screen sadly i cant play it as much as i was hyped these problems killed my experience
The arcade mode is fantastic and is well worth the price alone. The music is loud and a joy to play. You can get a demo of the mechanics with their preview game "UNBEATABLE [white label]", though I'll note I enjoyed the track selection in the full game quite a lot more. The story mode is a bit rough around the edges. There's several small things I could complain about, but it definitely tells the story it sets out to tell. It is intentionally conveys the emotion of feeling untethered, lost, and a bit angry. The art direction is great and there's several catchy songs (which are also then playable in the arcade mode). It is overall good and I'm glad to have played it, but it doesn't feel as polished as it potentially could be. I'd guess that the 10 hour story mode will end up being a small portion of my eventual play time due to the fantastic arcade mode though, so don't let that dissuade you from picking up the game if you enjoy rhythm games.
Pals, I wanna play a rhythm game, I don't want to skip past tons of millenial level writing.
When I tell you that I SOBBED throughout the entire final chapter and it truly felt like I'd been feeling. There are a few things I still don't quite understand, but this game has bangers, beautiful art, writing FULL of emotion and soul and somehow worms its way deep inside you
this is the closest a piece of media has ever come to making me cry it's beautiful play it, and finish it 10/10
one of the best games
unbeatable is a really exciting game, and it's presentation and songs selection is excellent (which adds a lot! do not take this part as me 'not liking the game') but, with day one paid dlc and another dlc asking for more money i really think the pricing betrays the fanbase a lot. also huge graphical issues and frame-drops (IN A RHYTHYM GAME) sorta sour the experience. my experience is mostly based on it's state near release, so graphical issues might be doing better nowadays, but the story didnt hook me at all from the first hour or so, gameplay or story wise. i kinda came for the gameplay and so many songs are just locked behind extra paywalls. taiko drum master pricing scheme strikes again
I really don't know what is going on half the time. The story is hard to follow. But the art style is nice
