UNBEATABLE and Determination
I first stumbled upon UNBEATABLE through the GOAT Jamie Paige advertising it on her page, and since then I've been playing the game nonstop. The music is awesome and the gameplay is awesome, what more is there to ask? A story mode. THATS what there is to ask. At first I thought it was going to be another cliche "hero saves the day trope", but it was much deeper than that. The main character has their own struggles they go through, which are easy to resonate with due to having similar circumstances. (Not doing music illegally, but you'll see if you play the game.) The side characters are well thought out as well. They each have their own little back stories and personalities I find to be very charming and complimentary to the overall story mode. But the thing I love most about this game -- besides the fact it has JAMIE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PAIGE as an artist, is the theme it explores. There's always been games that have tried the "persevere through anything" message ever since Undertale got popular, but not all of them hit the mark the right way. UNBEATABLE does though. Whether it be through its relatable characters
or kickass outro sequence
there's something about it that resonates with me that I just can't put my finger on. I love UNBEATABLE with all my heart, and I can tell how much effort was put into this game. Whether it be all caps or no caps, I hope when you play this game, if you ever decide to, it resonates with you the same way it has with me. - Joop
what the ♥♥♥♥ i don't want to cry
The story mode broke me. It came out at a time when I was in a deep depressive rut and didn't know how to move forward in my life nor what that moving forward looked like. Beat's story showed me what it meant to be human and what regaining the spark in my life practically looks like, and I owe d-cell the world for that. The Arcade mode is phenomenal. It's one of those "easy to learn, difficult to master" games, which encouraged me to push myself farther than I ever anticipated, reaching top 300 North America and top 600 global as of the writing of this review. If you want a story mode that is so though-provoking it changes your brain chemistry and an equally addictive arcade mode, you won't be disappointed, seriously.
Good
I wanted to recommend this game earlier, but it previously had issues with my main PC. Since then, the bug has been gone and I can now 110% recommend this game and would definitely also tell you to check out the soundtrack. Don't sleep on it :3 The story might be a bit choppy sometimes but don't go in with spoilers, I'd highly recc going in blind! For me I did, and the story ended up being very touching and moving for me. There were a lot of things I was able to process for my own stuff, and I really want to attribute that healing to this. The characters and art are really cool, and Beat and Quaver had such chemistry in dialog and felt pretty authentic. Sometimes silly or weird, or filler-y, but authentic. The game itself felt balanced of being very challenging with some charts and some very relaxed. This easily became one of my top 5 games, and I was so happy to experience it. The arcade poses great challenges and has more achievements in folios you can get, and especially if you're really good at rhythm games, you'll enjoy it!
Hidden Gem Alert
peak need to get some memory loss so i can play again
UNBEATABLE is an amazing game. Frankly, I got it just because I love Jamie Paige’s music; however, the game surprised me a lot. Generally, rhythm games haven’t been my favorite (because I suck at them,) but UNBEATABLE’s accessibility allowed me to experience and love the game (I still suck btw.)
I haven't had a game make me cry this hard in a very, very, very, VERY long time. Jesus christ. Please play it. Holy ♥♥♥♥.
